AKIMBOCROSS AKIMBOCROSS , The actual Character seems fine. Two things to note. First of all is the CS comes off a little hard to read in terms of formatting. Some spacing out of indicatiors or such would help. So if that can be made slightly easier to read that would be appreciated.
Second, I request the non-bracketed fourth-wall Rp speak to either be edited to be clearly separated from the actual CS descriptions or removed entirely. Sorry to sound slightly anal about it but when it comes to porting over to the Lore Thread I'd like all CS' easy to be read and able to obtain specific info from. If those two things could be done then I'll have another look over it.

Yeah i wrote it at multiple points and looking at it now the formatting is ass, and i'll fix it
And with the fourth wall stuff, i'll either put it in brackets or remove it when i edit it now.

Edit: looking at it now, i see the issue. I Wrote most of it on mobile and the formatting didn't carry over!

Okay so I just got a surprise birthday party and had copious ammounts of second hand smoking I feel so fucking high right now but I'M STILL WRITING BABY NOTHINGS STOPPING ME FROM FINISHING MY CHARACTER TODAY ZOOWEE!!!

Name:
Cairn Orias

Appearance:
Gocchan.full.3290521.png
(The character is Gocchan from the movie 'Sing a Bit of Harmony'.)

Dialogue Colour Hex Code: #F5DEB3

Age:
18

Personality:
Cairn is well aware that he can't change the world. What he can change is himself, and it's exactly what he aims to do especially in his final year of high school. He can go into almost terrifying detail of his opinion on all sorts of current events, established norms, and rules set in place, but due to the fact that no one really cares and out of concern for his own safety he keeps it to himself. For the record, he's willing to talk to anyone willing to listen.

Cairn doesn't have a poor or positive reputation in the school. Most people in the school couldn't put a name to Cairn's face, though they could probably tell someone who doesn't go to the school, upon seeing him, that he was a rare case of someone who attended classes. You'd think this would make him a prime target for bullying, but you would have to be in class to do that, really, so for the most part he is just left alone, and many people assume he is shy due to this. He has a few acquaintances who don't care much about his life story. On the very rare occassion they participate in some activity that requires little to no expense, and he is invited, he will sit in the background listening to their small talk and sometimes chiming in if prompted.

Biography:
Growing up poor, he constantly envied all sorts of things - good food, fresh clothes... If you can name it, he has probably thought "I want some of that" at some point. His parents would always try to save up and cut corners on anything remotely luxurious only to make some odd expenditure (never for him) and warp back to stage one of that cycle. Around the end of last year, Cairn started to fuel that envy into not simply resignation, but also determination to break that chain. No guiding cybernetic hand was going to effortlessly lift him up to where he wanted to be - that required toiling, and the other option of wasting away doing nothing was not as desirable.

One kind of thing his parents had somehow managed to hold onto were books - the ones with weight in the hand, and pages yellowed from years of being in obsolescence, the kind that you had to turn with your hand. They didn't have too many, most of them had half fallen appart, and they rarely contained information that was truly useful, but they were able to entertain him a good amount. About half of them were story books riddled with mystery, and with not much else to do, little Cairn got to reading, and got pretty good at it - language is the one subject he has grades that could actually be called good.

His apparent proficiency in the subject could be called the main reason he still has some hope in creating a future for himself. If he could read well, he should be able to learn well, too. Despite that, his other grades were... bad, frankly. Not nearly as bad as the majority of students who don't even attend class, but nowhere near where he needed them to be. Upon having heard of the study group, he expressed interest in hopes of sharpening those other dull, dull edges and perhaps somehow leaving Academy Six on a good note. The idea of trying so hard and still failing irritated him beyond belief, but not nearly as much as the idea of not trying at all.

Hobbies:

  • Reading - He's sifted through the old books his parents have kept dozens, maybe hundreds of times, to the point where he could probably recite them word for word, even including the pages that had long since turned to dust. At school, where there's an Internet connection, he reads either news (obviously curated by the corporations, but there's not much of a catalogue to choose from) or browses cybernetic enhancements. Despite not actually having any besides the C.I.C.I. system, he is extremely curious about them and would immediately blow his hypothetical disposable income on something if he got the chance.
  • Writing - A natural extension from his love of reading, he enjoys analyzing texts and the deeper meaning behind words. Though, he doesn't actually 'write', since there's no point in paper when you have C.I.C.I., as eye-numbing as it could be. If someone were to somehow grab those files from his brain, they would likely be confused or amused by the detail he can go into.
  • Walks - Perhaps a very dated and needlessly dangerous pasttime particularly at night (though he knew what routes were generally 'safe'), but one he had nonetheless. It was something that occurred naturally given how much he always desired from others. Looking around at the current happenings, noting any sort of change from the norm relaxed him from how abhorrent that norm was. In some twisted way, thoroughly knowing the extent of the grime outmatched the ugliness of the grime itself.

Fears:
  • Arachnophobia - Other insects sort of ick him, but spiders will make Cairn immediately stop whatever he is doing and hyperfocus on making sure that the eight-legged beast does not get anywhere within arm's length of him. At the same time he is too scared to attack them, so he usually shuffles around for some time before drawing away and extensively checking every surface he makes contact with when he comes back.
  • Silence - Having become so used to the constant jarring noise of daily life, moments of true quiet are few and far between, but extremely unsettling to him. When this happens, he will constantly be glancing around, afraid of being snuck up on. He will try to make his own noise to cover it up, typically in the form of tapping his feet.

Cybernetic Enhancements: None

CICI Username: cairn_orias
Speciality: Charm

Relationships (Cairn would say these things if he had someone to confide in regarding his thoughts on the study group.):
About Rin: Of the people who come to class, she's pretty normal. If anyone was going to make a study group, it would probably be someone like her. She's almost too normal, honestly. No one is this straightforward about things like this... hopefully whatever ulterior motive she has isn't something too crazy.

About Natsuiro: It's hard to look at them most of the time. I thought I was beat up before seeing them. I get the feeling that they could collapse at any second and just never come back to school. I've read the news stories about their admission, but they're obviously all full of shit. I mean, you really think they're here voluntarily? I've love to ask them about the real story outright, but I'm sure I'd be blindly trampling into a hornet's nest. I... wouldn't want to risk making things any worse.

About Miruno: Well, she seems like the kind of person who'd have some genuine interest in something like this. That weird off-beat way she speaks sometimes makes me cringe. The real kind of cringe, like, I physically recoil replaying the phrases in my head. Can't say I ever expect to interact with her. I usually get embarrassed imagining conversations between myself and other classmates, but I can't even imagine what I'd talk about with her. ...Assignments? I mean, on one hand, no shit, this is a study group, but on the other, why would she look to me for questions about that?

About Veronica: She's a little scary, but she's also just kind of moody, so eh. I know I don't keep my feelings off my face and body all the time. I don't usually tune into rumors, but there's enough about her going around that I could say I have a small idea of her backstory, assuming those rumors aren't a bunch of shit. She's not someone I see myself approaching any time soon, though I am curious as to why she wants to join a study group. And also, whatever is up with that cybernetic jaw, I've kind of always wanted to see it up close.

About Niko: Have never talked to him. Probably never will. Don't plan on changing that. I get the vibe that if I approached him, he'd laugh it off, tell me to get lost and poke some fun at me if he had any friends around. The idea that he wants to join a study group to study is ridiculous to me, but I guess he could be a fat person starting to go to the gym. I could describe a lot of people in this school that way. ...What? No, it's an expression. Obviously he's not actually fat.

About Basil: I don't know much about him, honestly. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who does. I guess one thing of note is that he's one of the guys who doesn't have any cybernetic enhancements at all. I don't think I've ever seen him not brooding. Being alone around him is pretty uncomfortable - I swear I can hear three times better when I'm the only one in the same area as him. People like him always have something they're super geeky about, but good luck finding that out without tripping a fuse. ...Mm, well, if there's any place that you could do that as safely as possible, it would probably be in the study group.

About Samuel: I had him marked as another violent type who... had no future, honestly. But one day, he stopped coming to school for a while. No one really knows what happened, but he came back and it was like there was a new person in the driver's seat. Mellowed out a ton. Out of everyone here, he's the one person who I'd talk to because I'd like to get to know him better, as opposed to doing so because I needed help with some homework.

About Viviane: Too much of a goody-two-shoes for me to relax around. There's no reason to be so selfless and peppy when you're in this dump. I feel like I'm in a trance when she makes small talk with me. She's the kind of person who would have started this kind of thing if Rin hadn't. I think it'd be better if we stayed as acquaintances.

About Airani: When I first saw the story of the crash online, I didn't even realise that she was someone who went to school here. Thinking back on it, she was all artsy and good-natured before that happened, and still is. That's kind of weird, though. Even with a cybernetic arm as a replacement, she should have... changed more, no? I mean, she's an artist who lost her hand. In some aspects, she reminds me a lot of Viviane... not in a good way.

Extras: Nothing random I can think of at the moment.

Hopefully my interpretation of books isn't too far out there from what you're thinking, I will happily change it to fit the setting.

None. (The wording in the Codex and Character Sheet template lead me to believe that not having one is permissible or terribly uncommon in the school, but if it is required or highly recommended for character interaction I will figure something out.)

Ok so heads up the sheet is going to take 10x more than I expected because I had this pet peeve in the backstory that I just needed to fix don't blame me blame my brain and honestly the change is for the better.

khai. khai. ,Hey the chraracter is grand. Perhaps add a spoiler below the CS with the CS in a non coded format (just the wall of text is fine), I've been told it's somewhat difficult for some people to read.

Oh my god. Ok. I FINALLY finished him. Quick disclaimer, some parts may be janky and not very good since I'm writing on mobile and have only done few and quick rereadings.

Somewhy I feel so nervous posting him??? Idk he took a big while I'm scared of it not being good enough to the public eye (pleading face emoji)

Alright so, bit of a heads up of the backstory, it's not very happy. Trigger warning for Abuse, neglecting, substance abuse, mentions of s/h and life-ending thoughts. (No detailed description of actions nor extensive talk of them. Just saying that it happened, saying why it's awful and important to who he is today, and moving on.) and general depressing themes. You have been warned. I've done extended research not too long ago about these certain topics to ensure it's written in a way that it won't offend anyone who's gone through that. And I've also experienced horrible things like that personally.

If you have any personal irks about the backstory make sure to tell me through PMs so I can get things cleared out and fixed. I have also spoken to people who've gone through similar experiences for writing these topics. Thanks for taking the time to read this big block of a warning, and I hope you enjoy this character! Really love this dude.

Also, holy SMOKES did this guy take a while. Usually sheets take around a day for me. Busy or not. But my mans took around 3 DAYS. Still, a price to pay for a character I enjoyed writing. I also did some extra reaserch just to make sure that everything was A-Ok.

And again, thanks for reading this! Means a ton that you didn't just outright jumped into the sheet.

Basil's a strange individual, really.

He's so detached from technology it seems impossible these days. He doesn't own nor wants to own one of those advanced 'smart' products or those weird assitants that reply to your voice. He always found them weird and too over-the-top. In his opinion, you look dumb speaking to a machine. Just do the darn thing yourself.

Abbot isn't one to care about people, it's not like anyone cared about him anyway. He's indiferent and uninterested in making friends and meeting other people, which is the last thing you'd like to do in a cyberpunk dystopia, have no one to back you up. And it's not like he's the strongest one ever to be able to defend himself. But he does sport some strengh and dexterity, despite his body shape telling you otherwise.

He's the type of kid to stay alone with his thoughts and have lunch alone in the library.

Although, if you're saying something remotely important or relevant he might listen. Just maybe. But don't expect him to say anything back. He's always focused on what he has to do to end the day and go back to his room, where it's only him and himself.

It takes him a long, extended while to warm up to people he finds the least interesting, in a way. As if he can't trust anyone. Which isn't completely false.

When he's stressed out, or just plain out feeling some strong emotion, he usually mutters and shouts insults and profanities in French. He also tends to misspell and incorrectly say some words in english, since he knows French better he tries (rather badly) to translate French words to English. It's mostly rarer and unused words he forgets.

But, he isn't ALL doom and gloom. There are some things that he likes, and is extremely passionate about.

The Ocean and Paleontology. Those are the few things that seriously catch his interest and passion.

Say or ask something, ANYTHING, about these two topics and you got him talking for about an hour, which is extremely rare for someone like him. He will rage on with these topics until you tell him to 'please stop i do not want to hear more amazing fax about shrimps'.

He paints, draws, and writes about these topics, but nobody really knows his passion because nobody ever stopped to ask. Nobody ever stopped to know him more than the surface.

He also has this unrealistic love to things like cryptids, folklore, and horror stories as well as movies. He has read so much about the most strange and obscure stories about odd and disfigured creatures and people. One of his favourites is Spring Heeled Jack, he still can't understand who came up with that. His other favourite is werewolves and lycanthropy itself. There's this song that he LOVEEES called 'Hombre Lobo En Paris' (Wolf-Man In Paris). That just feeds into his curiosity. Maybe with all of these tech evolutions there might be a cybernetic werewolf out there.

He knows all the constellations. All of them. He says it's for sailing, or something like that.

It's extremely difficult to make Basil smile, not moving a single face muscle to the funniest of jokes. It seems as if he's always down, uninterested, and bored. Which 95% of the time is the case, but the other 5% is him being in his own world, peaceful and serene as ever.

Sure, he's selfish in the way that he never thinks about the wellbeing of others, but you should get 1 thing clear:

He fucking hates himself.

He isn't arrogant, he doesn't think he's the shit, he thinks he's the absolute scum of the world.

He's fallen into a deep hole of self-deprecation and depression that it seems impossible to get out of without extended professional help. The only reason he keeps going is because of his passsion, and to prove something, anything, to his shitty family and this shitty world.

If only he had anything else to look up to.

likes
The sea and the ocean, Paleontology, being alone, blasting music in his headphones, designing marine creatures, reading, tuna sandwiches, fried chicken, the constellations,

dislikes
The winter. By GOD the winter. Everytime it snows his mood gets about a thousand times worse, he's harsh, moody, and easily irritated. He hates, absolutely despises people who try to help him with pity, there have been some rumors of him having multiple lashing-outs to people who've tried to 'help him'. His feelings are more complicated and can't be cured with a hug or some motivational words. If he's getting help, he's getting it on his own terms. He hates, hates, HATES people. All of them. Animals are better anyways.

allergies
Can have asthma attacks triggered by pollen and dustmites. He would often land himself in hospital as a child due to these attacks, but has been getting better over the years.

hidden talent
Can dislocate both of his thumbs with almost no reaction or sense of pain.

Relationships
Not much, really. But he has mixed feelings of the study group and prejudices about the group's members. Here's a list of them:

Rin Tanaka:
Wayyy too simple to be true 'pick-me girl' with too many piercings. Hope she gets that ear infected.

Miruno Asagahawa:
The type of 'hehe shy and clumsy' people that he couldn't care less about. She looks, talks, and probably thinks like a small child.

Veronica Jessica:
Cool jaw, too much blue. Moody but tolerable.

Niko Royce:
Drug addict emo guy who'll statistically die sooner than him. + Awful influence and awful person for his standards. If he had a gun with two bullets and was in a room with Niko and 2 of the worst beings ever he would shoot Niko twice.

Carin Orias:
He's alright, I guess. Kinda boring and plain but harmless. Again, couldn't care less.

Natsuro Ilya:
You smell weird. Unkept. Even Basil bothers to make himself look above average everyday. Try harder.

Castro Samuel:
Eh. I'll throw a spider at you with glee if someone payed me to.

Viviane Browning:
You're alright. Cool, even. But if you drag me into a conversation again and I'll throw you into an empty white room with no doors.

Fears
Earthquakes, angry dogs, fire, big companies, his mother.

superstitions
Black cats and cats in general bring good luck, spilling salt on the table brings bad luck, circles of salt keep evil spirits away.

Some words and sayings brought about bad luck on board, including "drowned", "goodbye” and "good luck". Things to do with the land were believed to be bad luck if mentioned, such as the church, pigs, foxes, cats, and rabbits

It is unlucky to set off at the start of the fishing season without having first shed some blood in a fight or in an accident.

history

It's a comical yet devastating universe, but it's still the kind of universe that I deserve.

February 29th. Who knew someone would be born that day, what're the odds?

Basil Abbot was born into a small and simple family, having no siblings. You would think that being a forever single child would be a blessing, but for Abbot, it was a curse.

Since he was a child Basil was neglected to hell and back. His father was absent and his mother was a substance addict. He was only given the what he needed, education, a roof, and food. Not even a sprinkle of care. In a way, most of the day he was left alone.

His mother was always sleeping or somewhere else entirely and his father never seemed to come home.

Again, his mother did the necessary, but love him. He looked after him but only as a chore.

Funny, wasn't it? Being a single child was supposed to give you all of the attention and care. Wasn't it so funny how after leaving pre-school and entering elementary, he had to walk home, alone? Wasn't it so funny that he always learned in school that family should be loving, complete, and caring? How it was supposed to be the most important thing in everyone's life?

It's not like he had anyone at school to aid him anyways, he had no friends and no teachers who cared enough to see the signs that something wasn't ok.

Should be needless to say, he needed things to change. Time went fast in elementary as he approached middle school. And nothing, I mean nothing was looking up.

Everyday he came home his mother was asleep on the bed or couch, or not there. There was nothing to do most of the day, since he finished his homework on the way home.

He gained this knack for reading, there was this big shelf of books in the house. All about the sea, ocean, and wars. And all of these books were from ages ago, as far back from the twenty first century. How old was that! His imagination boomed open. Spending his days reading and rereading the books on the shelf, imagining how life used to be all the way back then. Where nothing was as cybernetic as today. And everything seemed much calmer and easier.

At school he learned about the sea, too. But it was too surface level he couldn't bother himself to listen. It was one of the few times he felt... better. Special. Smart. Who else knew that much about orca whales, anyways? It was one of the few things about him he could be proud about.

He began doing crude drawings about these amazing underwater creatures. Sometimes he would try to show them to his mom, in the few instances she was awake at home.

And she couldn't care less.

Guess that type of psychology followed him all of his life.

It didn't amaze his mother at all. She barely turned over to actually see what Basil was showing her.

One night, when his mother wasn't in the best mood, to say the least. She was fed up with Abbot's harmless display.

He still remembers that day.

Constant shouting, a broken wine bottle, a scar, a lit cigarette and a burn.

Basil was left emotionally damaged, to put it extremely lightly. The burn on his lower right arm and the scar on his cheek are still present. And they will continue to remind him of what happened.

He couldn't, and still can't believe what ocurred. It made sense, no? His mom was constantly on drugs, alcohol, or something alike. He should've seen this coming. He was so stupid for ever believing he could make her by the very least acknowledge him. That's what was on his mind every. single. day.

As flies are drawn to the rotting cheese, are sadists attracted to misery?

It wasn't... The best time to be solitary. Basil was just about to enter puberty, being around 12. And honestly, with being this emotionally undeveloped and neglected, it was going to be a rough path.

And a rough path it was.

He quickly began to develop self-esteem issues and slight depression. And his mother was none the wiser. So there was little to no chance for him to get any help. Gone were the times where he felt like if he mattered to someone, anyone. He was absolutely and completely alone now.

School wasn't any better, either. He couldn't concentrate on anything, and his brain was full of junk. And that junk was how much he despised himself.

He felt as if he wasn't enough. Not even a spec of an important being. He was absolute trash, and that was final for him. He spent days, weeks, months, years and to this present day crying. Crying because he was nothing. Crying because everybody had better lives than him. Crying because everything felt like his fault.

It's like he couldn't work on anything, his mind was filled to the brim with the worst thoughts humanly possible.

There wasn't anyone he could scream for help to, no one would care to listen. And trying to help himself wasn't much of an option anyway.

If there was only a way.

He craved, no, he needed acknowledgment from the part of his mother. Someone to bat an eye at him and say 'Hey, that guy exists!'. This was beyond just attention seeking, this was attention needing. He was neglected all of his life from the 1 person who should love him the most, and to be honest, he was about fucking fed up. Fed up with himself, fed up with his mom.

But it wasn't going to be that easy, was it? He tried so many things. Upping his grades to a perfect score, cleaning around the house, trying to be nice to his god forsaken mother.

But nothing seemed to work.

And at the end of the day, he continued to hate himself for his mother's actions.

Maybe. Just maybe, if he did something so outrageously worrying, his mother would care. His mother would finally look at him. Would finally treat him like her own son.

So, it happened. He did it. He harmed himself. And he's still disappointed in himself for doing it.

And everything got even worse.

When his mother found out about his self-inflicted scrapes, bruises, and scars (some scars persist to this day.) It wasn't the reaction he was expecting.

She seemed to hate him more than he hated himself. More shouting, more hitting, and more physical and emotional scars. This wasn't how it was supposed to go.

Instead of her loving and worried embrace, it was this shouting party which could be summed up by:

"If you like hurting yourself so much, you wouldn't mind me hurting you."

That single phrase uttered by his mother made Basil Abbot lose it. The indignation and vexation coursing through his body was enough for him to shout back at his mother. Multiple times. If only he was more prudent back then. Never once in his life has he felt such anger. Such rage. He wasn't the idiot here anymore. Everything was on his mother. Who then proceeded to beat him to near unconsciousness.

Nobody fucking understood. No one ever will. He was sick. Sick and tired of being scared of everything. Being scared of everyone. Sick and tired of being neglected and abused. Sick and tired of his shitty life.

He couldn't wait until he dropped dead. He wished his mother would've killed him then and there. Because in that case he wouldn't have to suffer anymore. Nobody would remember him, anyways. He had nothing, no one, to live for anymore.

And it would stay the same.

I'll slip while having fun, and cut off my own tounge.

It was a never-ending cycle of suffering. After the fight between them broke out everything got worse. His mother was less at home, and the times she was Basil would hide from her. He needed to find something to hold onto before he took matters into his own hands.

Then, he remembered.

The books, the shelf. If exploring his own creativity was the only thing keeping him alive, then fuck it. He's doing it.

Some would say it's helpless, but really, it's incredible how he managed to keep himself alive through his passion and academics.

It's like if he banged on his own door, and said,

"Hey! Staying alive is really hard right now! Just give me something to fight with! I don't care if it's a stick! Give me a stick and I can stay alive!"

And his sticks? His passion and the sole, inmensurable rage he used in his studies, to prove in someway to himself that he'll always be better than his mother.

And so, with no hope, running on nothing, he was ready to cut through miles of hostile jungle with nothing but a stick. If that's what it takes to reach safety. If that's what it takes to stay the farthest away from his mother.

If that's what it takes to prevent him from ending it all.

Ok that 'gun in a room' comment was comical he doesn't hate him that much.

he still doesn't like him though
I didn’t see the gun in a room comment until after 💀 (rofl rn)

Edit because I don’t wanna double post: just thought I’d mention my edits to my cs are in the double digits rn with adding relationships, trimming unnecessary shit, and reformatting broken text. It’s pain fr. (At least I’m lucky I’m not editing code)

Oh yeah, something I forgot to add was bionic enhancements or something like that. It's none. Just clearing that out before I edit it to the sheet.

Also, sorry if it's lame I came up with it in like 3 seconds.

How many characters do we want ideally before we get into the Server?
