Random question of the day:

What's your hometown like?
If I had to sum up my hometown in one word, it would be: Boring.

But to expound on that, it's hot for the majority of the year. Summer starts early and ends late. Sometimes our winters arent even all that cold. You like sand? Cause we got lots of it! And not the fun, beach kind, either. Entertainment? What's that? Unless eating at a restaurant and /or drinking at a bar is your mainstay of entertainment, we dont have a lot else to do. And even within those margins, it's STILL a lot of the same. We have like four malls, though two of them arent really indoor malls are are just a big ass shopping district under the nomenclature of being a mall. Which sucks because once again, IT'S HOT OUTSIDE! Despite all these shopping hubs, the stores are pretty boring. If you have a style that is anything but boring and trendy, forget about it. Same monogamous style across the board. We have like maybe 5 comic book stores throughout the whole city. I know, I've been to them all while trying to find my brand of comics locally. No dice here. Speaking of dice. We have literally TWO, that's right TWO gaming stores! One of which is mostly just pokemon and magic the gathering cards. So when it came to my old hobby of miniature painting, I had one outlet. We occasionally try to mimic cool events like a comic-con, like bigger and better cities fo. But out rendition is like the dollar tree version of said event. It's always very underproduced and everyone here is a cheap-ass so no one wants to spend money, so as a result no one really comes here with anything worth buying (or they stop coming altogether). The only side of town that has anything "nice" is the West Side, cause that's where all the ritch people live. But it's very yuppy, and reeks of country club and pretentiousness.

Oh, and I forgot to mention our notoriously low wages. While other places are commonly starting out at AT LEAST $8.50 for minimum pay, my city seems loves to start everyone off at the state minimum of $7.50 an hour. I've been working since I was 16. I'm now 38. And no matter where I go when i have to start at a new job, it's always the same shit. Minimum fucking wage. And it isn't just me, a whole lotta ppl I know have to deal with the same thing.

I fucking hate it here. I've tried to leave on multiple occasions, but haven't been able to manage it. Always have. I guess the one good thing about my hometown is that because it's so boring, it's also a very safe place live. meh.

I love in a small city (approx. 20,000 people) in the foothills of the Ozark mountains. Rolling hills covered in forest stretch as far as the eye can see, and on clear days you can make out individual trees on hills miles away. The wind never seems to stop blowing. The summers get just hot enough to be inconvenient, and the winters get just cold enough to be inconvenient.

Once upon a time the city was booming off of coal mine money, but that all ended when mines dried up well before I was born. The two major highways that run through town still provide enough commerce to keep the town up and running, but they also cause a lot of shady stuff to pass through town and probably contribute to our drug problem. We somehow have a tourism department; it consists of one person. We don't have a whole lot to do: a casino, a couple bars, a couple parks, and a library.

A place you could drive right through and not even know you are there. I am thankfully not there anymore. Went back last year and didn't miss much. But a more accurate description. Boring and useless.

It's a very big city. Lots of people everywhere, busy traffic. But it's also beautiful, has many historical buildings which I enjoy looking at.

I'm neutral on them. They exist, is all I can say.
I don't think I even watched any of them.

A lot of the time, I wish they'd stop rebooting stuff and just made their own thing. Especially when the end result is considerably worse than the original.

Random question of the day:

What are your views on all the CGI reboots of classic cartoon shows from the past that have come out in recent years?
Kind of sick of it. I feel bad for this generation as it seems they're getting very little in the way of original and iconic media.

Yuck.
Seems like they can't come up with anything original nowadays. I'm just glad I grew up in the time where cartoons weren't the crap they are today.

I can't say much about cartoons. But I AM tired of all the rebooted movies that keep coming out. But you need to understand what is happening in the entertainment industry, and why reboots are so common now. Essentially, people have become exceedingly shallow with their interests. Or rather, they have the attention span of a ferret. Depth and content go over the heads of the masses, and they dont want to think. Instead, the industry had become a shoveling down the throat of the same regurgitated tropes in a different wrapping. Rebooting old series and movies cuts out all the work of trying out an idea that might utterly fail. They bank on the nostalgia, because they KNOW that there is already an interest group for it. Albeit the interest group might be utterly disappointed when they see the reboot. but they got you to take a look at it in the first place.

Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that the market caters to what people have shown that they will buy. And like the chattel of consumers that we are, we still wind up buying into the system that has developed. So if you dont like what you see.... stop watching. As long as you keep the channel on, they'll keep showing more of the same.

Let me think, no.
It seems to be the norm, as far as Hollywood is concerned to create characters couples and have them go through more unnecessary drama than it's worth then repeat the cycle. Implode their relationship, etc. So no. Definitely not anywhere.

I don't think i have any fictional couples i look up to as relationship goals given sterotypical couples in films have to go through a lot of unecessary drama just to keep the series entertaining plus even then if i did have one the only one i can think of is Romeo and Juliet and even then i don't think sacrificing yourself for the sake of love is exactly a good goal to begin with including if there was a better option of just running away to a new country and starting a family with a new identity.

There've been a couple times. One of the more memorable ones was the time I wrote a text that was like 80% swear words on an entrance exam.

Random question of the day:

Have you ever had those moments in your life where you just did not give a crap and did or say something that got you in trouble?
I had a 15-year streak of being a "Gives no fucks" party girl. Landed me in county jail on five different occasions for various charges.

Random question of the day:

Do you feel that some movie/TV show/video game endings are made for the sole reason of pissing people off?
I feel like the ending to the original Barderlands video game was made to purposely let you down and be like... "Oi! Where's the Vault loot?!"

Yes and no. On one hand, I would say some movies / TV shows are deliberately designed to piss people off. However, I wouldn't say this is their sole reason to exist. They exist to make money - pissing people off so that they talk a lot about it and go hate-watch the movie or watch just to keep up with the conversation online is by all appearances not such an uncommon marketing plan, but ultimately it remains a means to an end.

Another thing to add is the trend of "subverting expectations". While this one isn't intended to piss people off (in concept) that is a natural consequence of it being done poorly, and considering the way it is just kind of slapped into things, either some people are very much unaware of that fact or they don't care.

Yes, when they end on a cliffhanger and season two is nowhere in sight for the next few years. 🙃

didnt the creator or one of the producers or something die? I thought that was the main reason the show just kind of stopped

depends on the movie/TV show or Video game for me if it's a cliffhanger that last for years on end then yes (like the demon slayer game that just came out on the switch I already finished the gameplay and want more of it that follows season 2)

Not sure if I asked this one before, but...

Have you ever been bullied when you were younger? If so, have you ever fought back against your bully?
