For the record, when I took Physics in High School (I was THE top student) we had to build a shunt resistor circuit. Radio Shack level work with old wafer board, wires and resistors ... My lab partner was THE cheerleader - cute as could be - but not exactly a geek. (Okay, so I took advantage of my brain that one time. Can anyone blame me?)

I did the calculations - in my head faster than I could punch it up on a calculator - used the calculator anyway. I knew what I was doing. Built the circuit so fast ... plugged it up and ...

no light.

Checked my work. Did a page of math that she didn't understand. Tore it apart and redid it. Tried another resistor in case I had a bad one - another light bulb, just in case.

Still nada.

Showed the instructor. He agreed I had the right resistor. Went back and tried yet again. You guessed it ... still nada. I then looked disgustedly at her. She still had no clue. But I asked her to plug it in.

The damned thing lit up. That was the day I decided not to become an electrician.

Here's a fun one. Anyone here understand how they create an implosion to set off a nuke? Or how to calculate critical mass? Or does anyone realize that Albert Einstein was just the guy who figured out E=MC2 ... first. It was going to happen no matter what.

Well,, it is easy to know that stuff. Problem is, I don't know the formula - the SAFE formula - for making the C4. And I'd probably kill myself with radiation exposure if I tried to build a nuke. One has to know their limits.

I happened to do my biographical research on Schroedinger. His mentor was Ernst Mach - the same guy who created the mathematical formulas define supersonic shock waves. If memory serves me correctly, it was his math that was used to create inverse shockwaves with shaped charges. There was a 4th year Physics class I took that made us calculate critical masses.

In 1994 I developed a process for digesting nuclear waste to extract the heavy elements. Created a new molecule. My lab partner screwed the experiment up by using the wrong separating agent. Ended up taking six months of rotovapping to purify the sample for testing. But I was successful.

For what it is worth, I think all that knowledge is going to be a waste in this RP. First, too many gaps in my knowledge. Second, it is one thing to lots of science, culture, and such ... yet another to protect it. Look at the Greeks. They were more advanced like that when the Romans showed up. The Romans had military strength.

I see. Heck, we could even invent gunpowder and firearms while we're at it! Wouldn't that be fun and exciting? Is it possible, though? lol

LOL, lot of things to develop before it would be practical. It would be more effective to introduce three inventions and let those do all the work.

Thought this might help. (Though I see stuff about god Kings and wonder if a little fiction is mixed in ...)

I am having fun researching what life was like in 5000 BCE in my area. Been researching domestication of both plants and animals. Horses, cows, goats, etc.

My character IS going to be misinformed about horses - sort of. It was believed that horses were first domesticated in Anatolia (Turkey). Turns out DNA evidence says otherwise.

It’s fine. Was just going to say … 90 lbs … was that just the skeleton? I come from a family of giants. My sister was the shortest, at 5’10” …
Jeez, I didn't know that! Yeah, I'm not the type of guy who can measure and calculate height and weight, especially when it comes to creating my character. It hurts my brain just to figure out the exact and appropriate height and weight, you know. lol
