As you enter a massive, ancient, and forgotten temple in a land unfamiliar to you, you hear the sound of a warm, creamy female voice whispering to you.

"... Welcome, wayward child."

The voice echoes, but not in the temple. Only inside your mind.

"... Ah..."

"It feels an eternity since life last set foot in this long forgotten sanctuary."

"Come, child. Approach the altar of Lei'faati. Queen of the Dragons. She who was most beloved by her people, and by all others who once bowed to our majesty."

"Approach, and behold the image of your progenitor."

Ascending the steps to a platform near the center of the temple, you behold the altar. Upon the throne at its center sits the statue of a beautiful woman with a reptilian tail tucked aside and a staff in her left hand.

You feel it.

A warmth deep inside.

A sense of belonging.

A feeling not unlike the love of your own mother or other guardian as the statue smiles warmly and lovingly back at you, almost beckoning you forward into an embrace.

Your heart begins to ache for reasons you cannot fathom or even describe. You feel a tear stinging at your cheeks as something forces you to step back and give Lei'faati a respectful distance.

It's then the voice returns.

"Pray, child. Why do you hesitate?"

"..."

"... I see. You feel the love of your progenitor from beyond the grave. She lives no longer. And has not for countless millennia. Yet, her spirit calls to your own as any mother calls to her children."

The voice pauses momentarily, and returns with a sharp edge.

"The truth behind the birth of human kind is a lie told too long. The heathens of your species would preach of one God who presides over all and gave birth to you in his own image. Bah!"

The temple rumbles beneath your feet, but quickly calms.

"... Pray. I beg your forgiveness, child."

The warmth of the voice returns.

"My spirit mourns for you, and abhors the lies you've been fed all your life. You were not born of some God's whims. You were born of Lae'faati. T'was her spirit and love for life which gave rise to her power of Creation. She labored for centuries to refine exactly what your species was and what it could become. T'was Lae'faati who gifted your kind the knowledge and strength to endure the challenges of the world in ways no others could. And t'was Lae'faati who, despite the struggles and the evil which was born of all mortal being's inherent weaknesses, who believed in the power of the human spirit and its capacity for love, compassion, and kindness. "

"... Pray, child. Approach Lae'faati. Embrace her. Let her spirit bestow upon you the truth once lost to your kind."

As the voice fades you can feel your conviction return. You approach the statue of Lae'faati and embrace her.

Immediately, your mind is rushed through a torrential void of chaotic storms and madness before a light appears ahead. The world opens to normality. But it's not the world you know. You now stand on the tip of a mountain overlooking an Earth you don't recognize. Dragons and all manner of mighty beasts you've only heard of in legends and stories fly the skies and roam the grasslands and forests freely.

Suddenly, a sharp male voice appears behind you.

"My Queen! Please! This madness must end!"

You spin around.

It's her. Lae'faati. She stands in all her beauty and glory flanked by a male two heads taller than she with short dark hair and an aggressiveness in his stance which immediately draws discomfort within you.

"My Queen. You must see the error in this creation of yours! It seeks only to destroy!" He says as he points.

You follow his finger and behold a group what what can only be early humans actively hunting a smaller member of the Dragon Race which is bound to the ground as it lacks wings. They have cornered it and are burning the grass behind them to entrap it. There is no escape. There is only conflict. And a bloody hunt ending in the Dragon's demise unfolds before you. Hard as you might try, you could not look away.

"Do you not see?!" He shouts.

Your eyes return to Lae'faati as her lips part.

"I do see, Haemala. I see a species that's young and full of promise. A species not yet accustomed to the world it now finds itself in. A species that must now find its place in the food chain by whatever means necessary..." She turns to him. "Just as our ancestors did so very, very long ago."

He is caught. He has no words. Only contempt as he snarls at the scene unfolding below with the humans celebrating their kill.

Lae'faati's eyes return to the scene, and a smile appears on her face.

"Observe, Haemala. They cheer and rejoice in the triumph of their hunt. They embrace and share love and camaraderie. They share in happiness that they may feed themselves and their families another day, or several. Yes. It was tragic that a life had to be extinguished to realize that joy. A life that belonged to one of our own. But is that not the way of nature? Survival of the fittest. And may the most tactful beast survive the hunt, and live to hunt another day?"

She closes her eyes and takes in a deep breath as her head tilts up towards the sun.

"I can see them... Their love and lust for life and progress. They will become a force to be reckoned with long after our time on this Earth has passed."

"Or the ruin of all." He mutters.

...

Your mind is returned to you in the here and now as you continue to embrace Lae'faati's statue.

The voice slowly returns.

"Pray, take this memory with you, dear child of Lae'faati. Share it with the world, that the truth may once again find its way to the light. The world of humans exists because of Lae'faati. Queen of the Dragons. Most beloved by her people, and by all others who once bowed to our majesty..."

"... Take it, child..."

"... And remember always..."

"... You, are special."

"... You, and no other... Share something grand..."

"... You... Are descended from the Dragon Queen."

"... You... Are descended from Lae'faati."

The voice fades to nothing. The warmth of Lae'faati's spirit vanishes. And you are left in the temple, keenly alert to all the sounds and feelings around and within you. The soft hum of the wind outside. The gentle pulse of your own heart as your hand finds its place above it.

You look back to Lae'faati, and you can feel it deep inside.

... The truth...

You are a direct descendant of Lae'faati.

The blood of Dragon Queen flows through your veins.

With that realization, and the full acceptance of it, you feel a new power beginning to emerge within you. You focus this power, and your pupils turn to slits. The ground trembles beneath you feet. And the temperature rises rapidly in a circle around you distorting the air in a heatwave shimmer...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SO!!

Now that the unreasonably long scene is over... Have I captured your interest?

I'm currently looking for someone to play this descendant of Lae'faati!

Mind you, she is a pre-set character as far as appearance is concerned. And this is her (minus the purple/red horn and the big ass sword, lol).

I'll leave her background up to you, though. You gotta have some fun, right? Lol.

But yeah! I'm looking for someone to portray this descendant of Lae'faati. Queen of the Dragons. Most beloved by her people, and all others who once bowed to their majesty.

The Story

The RP takes place in a medieval fantasy time period where humans and other fantastical beasts (like Griffons) live (no other races like elves or dwarves, sorry).

The Dragons were hunted to extinction approximately 200 years ago. So they now exist only in story books and old wives tales about times long past and memories of ancestors who encountered the mighty beasts and lived to tell the tale. But the Dragons are still a centerpiece of numerous world cultures who still revere them for their power, beauty, and longevity.

But there are those who despise the Dragons, extinct or no, and are doing everything in their power to erase their memory from existence in its entirety. They are a global shadow organization infiltrating the infrastructure and political ladders of as many nations and kingdoms as they can in order to instill their own in positions of power and advocate for the erasure of any statues, stories, or other tales and forms of remembrance for the Dragons. They will not let them continue to exist in any form. And already they've found alarming success in this venture.

Just who is this organization? Where did they come from? And why do they despise the Dragons so?

These are the questions a select few seek to answer.

They are a collective of various races and faiths from around the world who, through their shared respect for the Dragons despite their conflicts with humanoids throughout the ages, refuse to allow such desecration of history to take place.

They are called Dragon's Kin.

And it's within this collective of like-minded individuals that we find our band of heroes, including the Descendent of Lae'faati who, at the RP's start, remains blissfully unaware of her near divine heritage.

This journey of the Dragon's Kin will be full of intrigue, exploration, combat, triumph, tragedy, and more.

...

So, are you in?

Cheers!

Hello! This looks very interesting, could i join your rp? :)

Greetings!

Currently the RP is still only a concept waiting to find interest. But if there's enough interest then I'll definitely get to work on making threads and such for everything!

Finger's crossed!

Hey, so question! Could you explain how the whole dragon thing works a bit more for our characters? Do they have the ability to turn into a dragon of their choosing?

Hoyo!

I'd be glad to!

It's a minor spoiler, but one I was going to reveal fairly early on anyway if the idea got off the ground. So, screw it. I'll tell ye!

Lae'faati, Queen of Dragons in ancient times, is the Creator of the human race in this RP world. She did so using a combination of her own magic, and divine Creation power. As such, she's really the "mother" of humans in name only since magic isn't akin to a biological connection.

Centuries after perfecting their design and leaving them to the whims of evolution and natural selection, she ventured into their world and, as luck would have it, was charmed and fell in love with a human man. This love bore a child, her first and only, and thus began her sacred lineage amongst the human race. Over time, though it became more and more diluted throughout the ages, her blood spread throughout the generations as her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and so on had families and children of their own.

Thus we come to the present day.

The main cast will all share a weak biological connection to Lae'faati, and thus will be sensitive to an event which takes place fairly early on in the story that kicks off the main journey we will undertake together. However, only her direct descendant, who is fully human in appearance despite her heritage, will have any sort of draconic ability as hinted at in the end of the example scene I posted above. This list of abilities does not include the ability to transform, however. The dragons are extinct, and they're not coming back. So, I apologize to anyone who wanted to be one or wanted to either directly or indirectly revive them through transformations.

Lae'faati's direct descendant will, once awakened to their potential, gain access to a state known as Lae'faati's Blessing. This state is very much a last-ditch survival state triggered by intense physical and emotional stress, such as in the heat of combat where the descendant's life is in danger. It's not something they'll be able to trigger consciously. While in this state they will gain Lae'faati's horn and tail, as well as a few small scaly extensions on their shoulders, stomach, and thighs. They will gain enhanced physical strength and senses, enhanced magical ability and resistance (not immunity), and they'll be able to breathe fire over a distance of around 15-20 feet (4.5m - 6m). This state will only last until either the danger has passed, or the descendant is overpowered by any other force capable of matching and/or surpassing them. And spoilers, both exist in this world to challenge the descendant and keep them humble and on their toes. So the descendant, despite their abilities, is not going to be any sort of ultimate failsafe or get-out-of-jail free card along the way. There's a lot out there that can still kill them if they're not careful.

So yeah!

Unfortunately, transformation isn't a thing. Not even for the descendant. It's just not that kind of story.

But the RP will have magic and other mythical beasts like Griffons, Centaurs, Trolls, Goblins, Imps, Faeries, Nymphs, Mermaids, and much, much more. I'm even open to the idea of a Beast Tamer type character joining the cast so long as they're well designed and we curb the "taming" ability so it's not overpowered or instant-tame like I've seen some people try to pull in the past. So, fantasy fans should have quite a lot to sink their teeth into with this one. I plan on going pretty balls out on the lore if the idea gets enough traction. And I'll always be open to hearing other ideas for additional lore and/or creatures, side adventures, etc that people come up with to keep things interesting.

Cheers!

I see! Thanks for clearing that up :3

The opening was actually really cool, and you seem to be really passionate for this Roleplay!

So we will be able to customize our character's abilites and concepts through magic, but they'll also have the special ability of turning into a dragonic human under stress?

If you're opting to play Lae'faati's direct descendant, then yes, you'll have the ability of using the draconic power of Lae'faati's Blessing in extreme situations.

The rest of the cast will rely on traditional magic and/or intellect and tactfulness to overcome their foes as normal humans do. And you'll have full customization over the magical element(s) you use.

I will obviously have a few limitations in place to prevent any one magical style from becoming overpowered compared to any other. But in general if you can imagine it, and it makes sense for the element, it can be done.

Ah, alrighty! My apologies, it can be easy to get things mixed up so thank you for clarifying.

Are there any limitations to the kinds of spells/abilities we could give our characters? Like will the spells be more traditional stuff like fireballs, or can we customize our character's abilites to make them more unique?

Yes. There will be several basic limitations in place on magic to keep things fair and balanced not only between characters, but in the world in general.

For example: Magic relies on the use of mana as a natural element of nature to power magical attacks. If the area is devoid of mana, which it can be due to various in-world circumstances, then magic cannot be used at all until the user enters a mana-filled region again to draw power from.

Another example would be if you have Fire magic and launch a fireball with a 30 foot diameter (~10m), your character is going to be quite winded after launching it given the amount of energy it takes to create something that size. Such an attack would be roughly akin to having to sprint an entire quarter mile lap around an Olympic track. Conversely, if your character used Fire magic and launched several small fireballs with a 3 foot diameter (~1m), they'd be perfectly fine and could easily keep fighting without issue.

Also, when it comes to the elemental magics like Fire, Wind, Water/Ice, and Earth, keeping things sensible is the best way to go. For example, in Avatar the Last Airbender the Fire Benders could create lightning. Not so in this RP. The reason is because lightning is actually an electrostatic discharge that has nothing to do with fire. So a Fire mage in this RP cannot generate lightning no matter how hard they might try.

You may have also noticed that I did not list lightning, light, or darkness as "elemental" magics in the above segment. That's because lightning is overpowered as an "element" since it's so naturally destructive and chaotic compared to the others. And both light and shadow are byproducts of physics, not nature. Additionally, both are extremely hard to balance because they're so malleable and easy to manipulate according to your understanding of the physics surrounding them.

For example: A laser is just hyper-concentrated light. So if someone wanted to they could easily say "since big magical techniques drain a lot of energy, it stands to reason that a tiny laser, while not using much stamina, would still be devastating and could theoretically slice an enemy in half if there's enough concentrated light in it, right?" And, technically, they're not wrong. Obviously "slicing an enemy ion half" is seriously stretching the limits of reality and magic alike. But you can see how easy that is to manipulate and argue for unbalanced and unfair advantages, yeah?

So light, darkness, and lightning aren't going to be magical forms in this RP. Too much red tape, and too much of a headache for balance purposes.

But there are other forms of magic too which I can get into if you'd like me to list them out. They're very Skyrim/Elder Scrolls esque. So I think a lot of ES fans would dig this RP.

But for the other four main elemental magics like Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water/Ice, if it can be done in real life either in nature or due to the laws of physics and how these elements utilize them and interact with them, then it can be done in the RP. Fire, for example, can be made blue or white depending on how concentrated it is and how hot the core of the fire is burning. Wind magic can, if concentrated the right way, create sharp gusts of air capable of cutting into flesh (but not slicing entire beings in half cause that takes insane levels of wind speed to accomplish). Water/Ice, depending on which you're using and how, could be used to cut through rocks if concentrated in highly focused lines such as a water-saw, or ice could be used to immediately act as a temporary bonding agent for an open wound by freezing it shut. There might be a small risk of mild frostbite as a side-effect. But hey. If you lost a leg and your femoral artery is wide open and gushing your life blood away and alarming volumes then you'll take a little frostbite if it means your artery is sealed and your body has a chance to make it to a doctor before things get worse.

So that's kind of what I'm going for.

I'd love to join this, your rps are always pretty fun.

Yay! Thanks!

That's two people!

I'm gonna try to hold out for one more before I commit to whether or not I'll be making the RP. Two or three people might be enough, but I have a feeling we'll need at least four for the best experience.
