Would i be able to make an intimidation attempt to assist Sigfrida in subduing Embrace?
Yeah. Looking into it…

It will be a social influence roll. What ability do you want to use to try and intimidate her?

Side note: I’m coming around on the social influence system. Somehow, even after reading and re-reading and re-reading the rules, I still wasn’t grokking that it really is the same roll for all the instill and persuade actions. I’m going to give it my all to make sure we can use the RAW to full effect.

It also means most of how I felt about how they worked was wrong and you guys were right more right.

Sorry it’s taken this long and sorry that maybe some of the character/player play using those rules has been reduced do to my misunderstanding them. But, I think in the future, it will be more fun.

Specifically, Zoya’s AMAZING roll could have created an intimacy in all of your characters (by your choice) that you could have played on.

I think I’ll probably keep the “carrot” of XP in the future for choosing to take social influence by other players in consideration of modifying your actions.

It’s why I’m so glad to be playing this game here and with all of you guys. My 3e play has been very limited prior to this. It’s so nice to see these systems in action.

Lol I'm still new to social influence myself, to be honest. Don't yet fully understand it.

But! For this instance. I was going to use Presence as the ability. As well as stunting the use of her iconic anima, army, and turning Embrace's saying back at her. And also planning to use the charm, Dread Tiger Symmetry.

We don't actually know if Sigrdrífa's version of reality sticks here yet! Embrace could be E2 and have Perfects, or be able to get her DV up to 14. If Sigrdrífa hits she can immediately decisive slam and has an expected damage of ~18 HLs, which will probably straight up re-kill Embrace if she doesn't have any fancy Resistance Charms, and Sigrdrífa fully intends to do that unless Toun steps in and stops her or something (Which he has implicitly done by writing as if Sigrdrífa's just going to hold her for questioning instead of smashing her face first into a rock hard enough to shatter both). Sigrdrífa doesn't really believe in tying her enemies up and asking them questions. She just kills them. There's almost certainly someone else somewhere too weak to be an enemy you can ask once you're done. If Toun asks, though, she'll stay her hand. Otherwise, if no crazy Charms get in Sigrdrífa's way, or something completely out of left field like the icy hand of a Deathlord rising up from the Underworld to save her, Embrace is just going to be walking away one moment and re-dead the next. Blink and you'll miss it.

Tsk tsk. Its okay for Sig to resort to immediate killing but not okay for Affy to resort to immediate killing. I feel jaded. I hope Sig makes it up to her :p

And I need to do something cool soon to regain my defeated pride.

I realize the hold isn't guaranteed, it's just extremely unlikely to fail. For instance... If Embrace has Dex 5, Dodge/Melee/Brawl/MA 5 and a specialty. Her Defense is 6, even if she summoned a weapon, that's Defense 7. Dice caps limit her to a ceiling of 12 (full excellency). The only way to get to 14 or more and defend is through non-charm bonuses to defense which I don't even recall those existing for Solars (the 1wp bump isn't enough as a tie still goes to the attacker). So yes, it's not impossible for her to evade, but exceedingly unlikely.

As for Toun, all he's wanted is closure and justice for his tribe rather than leaving it a lingering mystery. He does want Aleifr to see sense and turn to the right path, but he has experienced the death that permeates her spirit. If they have to put her down so her memory can go without being tarnished further, so be it.

Also, I dont mind still rolling the threaten. Afureru would take a perverse glee in seeing the flicker of fear in her eyes. Of which might linger after the spark of Embrace cycles to unlife again.

I know Toun will make an effort to mend fences and explain his mindset about the whole ordeal after the fact. He has intimacies of friendship for Affy and Tyree at the same intensity as Aleifr after all. He just wanted space to get answers for his tribe and if the conversation lasted long enough, the cause of death for an old friend.

Sigrdrífa was never upset that Afureru went straight to murder, she was upset that Afureru was murdering her friend! If it had been someone else's friend, or a stranger, and Afureru had wanted to murder them on sight, Sigrdrífa would have just laughed and enjoyed the show, and then asked what the fuck that was about afterwards. Afureru just had to pick the person Sigrdrífa had just shared a happy embrace with to try and murder without clear provocation.

Sigrdrífa only went to immediate killing once Embrace went out of her way to declare that not only was their friendship over, but they were now mortal enemies. Obviously you kill your mortal enemies immediately.

Oh, that's a good point. Sigrdrífa would know that - she's already heard Toun linking the two this scene. Okay, then yes, she will hold Embrace at bay instead of instantly murdering her, because she knows Toun has something important to ask her.

Lol was joking that I felt jaded, not Affy. I dont think Affy will be angry with Tuon or Sig. If anything the only thing that would upset her would be the wounding of her pride (but such is what she gets trying to put all her effort into grappling with a grapple monster instead of dodging or avoiding pain). And even that would just have her trying harder.

Heck, Tuon could probably stab her through the chest in anger and she would only be angry about it for an hour or two... violence is her language.

I was making a tease lol. Affy knew why Sig was protecting her. I'd imagine it would turn out pretty similar if the situations were reversed. Our girls basically have kill buttons. And when that button is pressed, we can gotta do what we gotta do. Mortal enemy must die, unless Zoya asks otherwise.

And as stated. Affy wouldn't be upset with Sig aside from being annoyed at being humiliated and justifiably antagonized.

Also I have no objections to keeping Embrace alive. I can get as much use put of her for plot reasons as much as you two can. Though I suppose I can make due with any abyssal, actually.

Question: if killed, does the exaltation of an abyssal/undead go back into someone else and possibly return to being a solar/lunar or is it stuck in the clutches of Death or hell?

As far as the hunt's concerned, they're all demonic exalted. It's an eternal game of whack-a-mole, except now that the Jade Prison's broken the difficulty level shot way up as there are suddenly a lot more moles to whack.

Worse still being that they are the souls of our brothers and sisters. Stolen against their will and forced to turn against the sun. Once they were solars. Now slaves, whether they know it or not. Or love it or not. And endless cycle of torture, brainwashing, and death. Good edgy fun, actually.

Speaking of my men. WlfSamurai WlfSamurai am I supposed to write for them or you? I'm not sure whose authority they fall under as NPCs.
Kind of a mixed bag? I think, ultimately, they're NPCs and I like the idea of you being able converse with them (through me) with you having to talk to yourself? I also like being able to use them for planting seeds and such. I do want you to also feel you have input and editorial control. You paid the points for them, so they should be partly your authorship.

What are you thoughts and preferences?

I'm fine with it being a piece controlled by both of us. Of which we can easily build on together with the improv basic of "Yes, and..."

I currently don't have much fleshed out about them. But the more interaction they get. They will flesh themselves out in time.

I dont know who her officers are. But over time we might find ourselves going back to the same mouthy soldier or drunken bannerman. Such is how char can be born. Same with how band wide traits can come into being. Such as their love or comraderie for the Evervictor. Or how they might be surprisingly gentle houseguests despite most being former marauders and random peasants. Maybe the only time they ever take a bath or shave is when Zoya has a sermon and they want to look their best for the glorious exalted priestess, with which they break down into shameless tears.

A blank canvas for us to fill out with quirks and color. And im not against the others having interactions or some control over them as well. I paid for loyalty and numbers. Narratively they can be a prop we all take advantage of.

Yeah, if you're cool with the "yes, and..." approach, that's my preferred. I planned on saying things like, "X comes to talk to you. Remind me, again, how he knows your father as well as he does?"

Aeliana is quite awake, I’m probably going to have her slip into a delusional state. I’ve been considering how this unwelcome arrival of the void inside her will conflict with her own loose grip on reality.

A weird triangle of influence balancing inside her, the void, the madness, and the cult all vying for control and each one having their own positive and negative influences that wax and wane as they fight each other. Void influence struck down by Madness, Madness stepped on by the Cult, the Cult subsumed by the Void and so on.

Since it’s the first big showing of the void, I’m anticipating Aeliana going a bit violently off the rails here. How fast can she form a makeshift arena/stage out of the materials around her?

Whats this void! I'm highly intrigued. I wanna know more.

And Ale and Affy can be kindred spirits in their madness and infected insides and sugger together!

Maybe we can fill our limits at the same time and go bat shit crazy. Ale consumed by the void beyond the capacity of madness to contain and affy reverting to her abyssal past as it rears its unholy head.

I do love me some good inner turmoil.

Also She can probably ask the troops to help make her one.
