The Crimson King

Return to the Earth.
Hi, sorry again for the lengthy wait time to actually get things started. Feel free to discuss your characters or possible plot opportunities here, or just miscellaneous banter, I don’t mind.

I'm sure everyone else will turn up soon.

In the meantime,I wanted to clear up a couple things.

Broadly, what kind of ship will we be hunting the wyrm from? Like is it a cargo ship,or a repurposed personal vessel,or a commissioned military craft?

What is it named?

And where will we be departing from?

Hmm. Not good at naming things. Probably some kind of commissioned craft: a state-of-the-art military vessel with appropriate accommodations for what will likely be a small, yet highly experienced, group of staff on-board. Departing from, more than likely, the Capital World, Ariel, which is probably the farthest place from the Outer Ring in the entire system, appropriately enough.

You got it.

Actually, one more thing: What are "humans" going to be called in this setting? I guess Terrans or whatever planet they seem to originate from will work.

Yeah, Earth as we call it is called Terra in this setting, so humans are Terrans. I’d imagine the Milky Way is rather far from the Amadae, though. Terrans discovered space travel a couple centuries ago, at least, so they’ve been integrated into the Oligarchy’s rule for a rather long while now. There’s even a handful of Terran Council members.

Hi!!

Questions about the Not-The-Force Prim casters. Are they like Sooo-Not-Jedis space sword wielding, laser blocking samurai or can anyone be strong with the Prim?

And on a scale of 1-10, 10 being Darth Palpatine, where do we slot in in terms of power levels and experience?

Asking a more simpler question. The CS requires to fill an answer on Bonds, is that like relationship thing?

Well, they’re quite rare, it’s like being born on a solar eclipse. It’s not likely that anyone you meet will be a Caster, and if they are, they’re probably extremely high in society due to their ability, and certainly wouldn’t be working on military payroll unless they had a very good reason to, so it’s not likely anyone on the team will be a Caster. And Prim can do basically anything you put your mind to, but it takes some time to learn exactly what that means; but, yeah, it can be anyone.
tl;dr : Being a Caster is extremely rare. Meeting one is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, much less actually being one. So they don’t really have their own culture, since there are so few of them.
And our group is probably about a 6 or a 7 on that scale, though I’m willing to bet a handful of our characters will be skilled in other things besides just combat.

Bonds are what your character cares about, what drives them. What gets them up in the morning? What are they willing to sacrifice everything for? Whether or not that’s an individual, a place, a thing; that’s up to you.

Thanks for answering so fast.

Another question: is the crew a mix of old and new recruits... or are we starting off as never served together and just recently signing our lives away?

Ah okay thanks. Got a bit confused there for minute.

The crew consists of some of the best there is, though for reasons of maximizing character interaction potential, I’d prefer if they didn’t know each other, with some possible exceptions, but I’d like if the default is everyone being strangers to one another, makes things more interesting, in my opinion. The Verse is a big place and there’s a lot of room to go and make a name for yourself; it’s plausible for absolutely no one to know each other on that ship, in spite of their experience.

Booooo... lol but okay.

Thinking then I'll drop off an app for the Loveable Rogue or the Devout Nomad then

Just going to put it out there that I thought of playing as an observer sent from an enclave of isolationist researchers to survey the places the ship will stop by and also maybe to get their hands on a sample of impure Prim.

They're not there to sabotage the mission, but their actual goal and identity is a secret, so they have a cover identity as an engineer/researcher assigned to the ship.

If that's acceptable I'll go ahead with making my CS.

Alright so before I get too too invested in charrie creation:

if Guardians of the Galaxy is on one extreme and Star Trek is on the other... and Star Wars is about the middle, how serious is the tone of the RP?

Reason I ask is because I'll go Loveable Rogue if we are leaning towards GotG. And Devout Nomad if the RP leans towards Star TRek.

The "uber-serious/grim" side of the space fantasy scale is probably better represented by...Warhammer 40k,or something

Well, it’s more like an anime space opera, so not really much of any of those, but the closest thing I’d compare it to would be Star Wars; serious when it wants to be, with some humor thrown in so it isn’t a total snooze fest of people grumbling about why their ideals are better at one another.

oh so another question of course:

Did you want apps dropped off here first so you can go over them?

Well, here's the Google doc with my CS.

I had some time to think about it,so I went a bit fancy with the formatting.

Let me know if the character and sheet are acceptable,or if I will need to edit it to the regular format before posting it to the CS thread.

The Crimson King The Crimson King
Looks pretty good, though if you don’t mind adding some of the points from my CS format, I’d appreciate it. Only if you’ve got the chance to do so, there’s no rush; I’d accept it as it is.

Decided I'd drop my CS with the current formatting into the character thread.

Looking forward to everyone else following up soon.
