At the Adventurers' Table: Chapter Sixteen

Hey, Gang! I hope to post in-game sometime tomorrow. Please stay safe!

Captain Hesperus Captain Hesperus (Tag!)

This was the last I had heard on the subject of Otiorin creating a portable shrine for the Wild Elves. I do not recall setting up a price or deducting gold from Otiorin's coffers (I can't seem to find anything on the subject in my notes). We talked about the history between the Half-elves and the Wild Elves indepthly in the later pages in Chapter 11.

The post is dated 28 September 2018 (only over 2 1/2 years ago! What's the matter with us? We should remember these things like they were yesterday! Ha ha, yeah, right!). =)

Meanwhile, in one of the seedier parts of Highwind

Otiorin Taletreader

Otiorin strolled out of a gambling den so downmarket it didn’t even grace it’s doorway with a sign, a cheerful swagger in his step. His magically-improved physique was now clad in a fine forest-green silk shirt, grey linen trews and a sleeveless doeskin jerkin. A blue felt hat with an extravagant multi-coloured feather cockade sat at a jaunty angle on his head and a herbal cigar in the corner of his mouth wreathed his head in fruity clouds of smoke.

A blissful hour or so in a delightful sauna, followed by the thrills and spills of a few hands of Dead Man’s Draw. That was a way to spend a day in a city like Highwind!

And it wasn’t as if he’d wasted the day. He’d sniffed out the local Elven contingent living in Highwind and, with some gentle questioning (and a fair amount of disavowing any alliance with less-reputable Half-Elven malefactors), he had located a carpenter who specialised in religious icons. He had commissioned and paid for a portable shrine dedicated to Corellon Larethian. The lithe and lissome Wood Elf free-drew an early concept which would have made a human artist weep with its artistic perfection. Otiorin agreed the design, offered payment from his share of the Wanderers’ spoils and gave information about where and to whom it was to be delivered.

His good deed for the day accomplished, he sauntered back in the direction of the temple and the last place he’d seen the Wagon and his comrades.

Good Cap'n, what are you thoughts?

Well, fuck.

How about this? I could subtract some of Otiorin's gold now (say, 5,000 g.p.?) and say he sent this draft and carpentry work to the Wild Elves (or specifically, to the one well-known Wild Elf in Highwind, Kyrasani of the Wild, the Ranger of the Fangs of the Forest Mother who run the Adventurers' Guild). That would have been the last Otiorin would have heard of it. That would mean he'd have to make contact with her by way of runner or in-person to find out if his token (for lack of better word) to the welfare of the Wild Elves was received.

Since that happened just before the Wayward Wanderers were kidnapped from Ben & Misha's very establishment, Otiorin, I think, would have no other realistic way of knowing unless someone else among our wonderful Players has any idea.

Do you like this idea?

If we go this route, Cap'n, what then for Otiorin? If he finds out that the Grugach (Wild Elves) have indeed accepted and kept his token, what will Otiorin do now?

Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood Please make the additions/subtractions on your Character Sheets if you haven't already. Happy shopping! =)

EDIT: Sherwood, I'm getting prices for the scrolls Luna is offering to sell Ben. They'll be in an in-game post. =)

Captain Hesperus Captain Hesperus Also, there is this to consider from Kaerri (see Brooch of Blending ). =)

Sharing Kaerri's shopping and wish list ^;3^

Shopping:
1 Potion of Light (blue) - 50 g.p.
Brooch of Blending (unless Otiorin wants it) - 2000 g.p.
-- I feel like, in a party with two half-elves, one of us ought to get this. If Captain wants it, Kaerri will instead get one of the Effortless Laces.

Wish:
Effortless Lace - 2,500 g.p.
Stake of the Righteous - 3,520 g.p.
Shadow Jumper's Tunic - 16,200 g.p.
Belt of the Weasel - 10,000 g.p.

Kaerri Kaerri I think the other items on your list are yours for the taking if you'd like to write a short in-game post?

Psychie Psychie Per Pathfinder Core Book, longbows weigh 3 lbs.. Match that and the size up against the item descriptions provided and Oreleth will have her answer. =)

My pleasure! I'm doing a three-part post in Broadsword. Enjoy both the story and whatever item(s) Oreleth buys at Ben & Misha's!

A question for you, Dann, about the prices of your magic items.

4 Vanishing Sheaths (hides item in extradimensional sheath, more) - 2,500 g.p. each.
4 pairs of Gloves of Storing (see description) - 10,000 g.p. each
When I click on the link for the Vanishing Sheaths, it says the price is 5,000 gp, but only costs 2,500 to make. Then, clicking on the Gloves of Storing, they cost 10,000, but only cost 5,000 gp to make. Is the first one a typo? Or is the Vanishing Sheath being sold at cost and the Gloves of Storing are full price?

Also, the list for the Gloves of Storing say "4 pairs" of them, not just 4 gloves. Are they a set that can store a 20 pound weapon each, or is it just one glove?

Psychie Psychie Ack! Thank you for your honesty! Yes, the Sheaths are supposed to sell.

And those are supposed to be 4 (not 8) Gloves of Storing. Good catch! It is one glove that can hold a single item that cannot surpass 20 pounds.

This is what I get for marathoning DM stuff like this until like 5 in the morning. I knew I'd get some things wrong, but so what? It's a game and I like the rolling the dice as it were. =)

EDIT: Psychie, please add a Bonus Action Point (the ones that don't expire) to Oreleth for your terrific honesty!

Re: Training to 13th level. Maybe you guys and gals want to take at the last few pages of Chapter 15? In-game, that is? =)

Well I’d definitely like to follow up on it, make sure it’s underway/completed.

Captain Hesperus

Kaerri loves being a half-elf, but has been in the occasional situation where being able to look human was a definite advantage (in one case, a necessity).

So, potion of light (blue) and the brooch for Kaerri, then ^33^

I have looked back over the IC posts, and see that there is a crystal ball that is connected to Oscar to be able to do some training. Once we are done with the shopping trip, we can give him a call.

Bria was in my head earlier today. She tells me, "If I was in that person's position and had to make a deal with a devil, my wish would be different."

"Oh?" I ask.

"Yes. I would tell the Devil, 'My wish is to be in Heaven and I want you to be there with me.'"

=)

Heya Gang! Is everyone done shopping (the voice-to-speech recognizer typed "chopping!")? Did I forget anything?

I believe that Luna is set for now. I am banking the rest of my funds to save up for that Staff of Power, assuming that I don't find something equal or better on the road.

Yeah, 12,000 in gemstones sounds like a lot, then you get to see the costs of the magic items and see that it is just not much at all. I think I am good with what I have.
