Fantasy Dragon rp interest check

I hope to see some real draconic diversity

What kind of dragon is it? : coolguides

Why the shit is a Kirin and a cockatrice on that.

It's a chicken and a magic deer what the fuck

Cockatrices in some texts are chickens with dragons blood or chicken an dragon hybirds

Kirins are closely related to dragons in japenese folklore with alot of dragons using Kirin as their "Walking around without scaring people" mode

Which means Cocksatices are a chimera; a fusion, like gryphs. This is shown like a taxonomy chart, so it'd probably be more like whales and hippos.

Fair enough; I'm more familiar with the Chinese version, atm, because... well, Chinese works tend to get thrown around the house when one of your relatives is learning it

I personally try going off of Dungeons and DRAGONS

Mostly because DnD is like...the major massive fanasty giant of the modern western world and lots and lots and lots and I mean lots of books and movies and other media have ripped their ideas off meaning they're ideas are the most widely accepted and understood

In that circle Kirin and Cockatrices are dragons, in a similar way to how even though a Tiger and Cheetah look nothing alike and act nothing alike they both are big cats

But this also brings on another question for the host:

Mythology or science based dragons

I tend to just use basic genetics because that's an easy enough universal thing.

Which means, in my brain, amphitheres and lindwyrms are from the same families, but not wyrms (which share a family with snakes) or Lungs (which share the drake family)

Dragons are 6 limbed, 2 wings and 4 legs and this from a scientific standpoint is a terrible idea for any creature looking to survive past infancy so yea....I'd assume more magical

If we go full science based then we'd all be using Wyverns not true dragons because a six limbed veterbrate...is kinda impossible?

Well, it depends on what you do with it.

Most of a creatures' weight is in water weight, so yeet the blood and you yeet about 60% of the weight.

That frees up enough weight so that you could feasibly have a decent enough wingspan for flight, but it also means they have a branched respiratory system/digestive system with essentially a paper-passer way of punting energy around the body. Not ideal, but I can work with it. So, as it is, these guys would have had to evolved from flatworms, nematodes, or cnidarians. So they came out of the water and are made of jelly. Cool. About seventeen million years worth of evolution later, and we have a snake thing with a skeletal structure. Fifteen more mutations and we have limbs. Boom.

To explain the six limbs, toss 'em in a cavern full of massive stretches of space, where walking would take more energy than it's worth, but walking is also needed. There you go. Four legs and a pair of glidy wing things.

Reinforce the bones with something (carbon would work best) with triangle supports and you have strong, lightweight bones, no bloodweight, and six limbs.

Or, alternatively, we could have them evolve from insects, which would create a whole host of evolutionary problems that will then be solved by a few strides in logic

Fair enough but that limits some of the design choices of the draconic species which can lead to people think they're creativity stunted

Eh, this is just how I explain my thought process.

Give me enough freedom and I can explain at least three energy kineses

I'm thinking of stepping away from the intelligent magical thing and instead going for a more beastial "Flying fire breathing dinosaur" route for a more aggressive dragon

Currently thinking along the lines of absolutely ancient mildly malevolent child-like danger beast.

That or the last surviving braincell that I own.

I’m just going to wait and see what the owner of the thread would like in their world. I have a few ideas on what I want for a character however it depends on what is and isn’t allowed.
