In a world much like the earth you would see in various anime shows...
There be super powered individuals! These men and women get paid for saving the day, however they need to employ their own cameramen, editors, everything and anything needed to record and produce quality footage of them being a hero.
Because the amount of Hearts or "likes" a super gets on HeroWatch "YouTube for supers" Is directly linked to their pay check.

Meaning some guy who saves countless lives each day who very well could be the best super hero around, would get treated like a joke because there is no uploads of him doing the various good deeds.
But.....
A weak useless person with a skilled team of media savvy people could appear to be superman in the eyes of the public.

This rp is about a team of supers and their support, trying to make enough money to afford their headquarters/base and make a decent living.
Support in this case is literally anyone who helps the hero make content or fight crime.

If a person holds a villian in place while you punch them in the face,
That's support.
If someone made your costume,
That's support.
Someone filming you while someone else holds a Mic out of frame,
That's support.
Someone writing your cool action movie one liners?
That there be support.

(Note even a support character who doesn't actively fight crime can have a power)

As far as super powers go I'd say it's soft magic. If your struggling for ideas I'd suggest googling "quirks" and taking it from there, If I feel it's to OP or to BS I will ask you change or nerf it.

Sounds interesting. Are you allowed to not have a crew as a hero or perhaps have a crew but you ditch them all the time?

It's a group rp, so the story would follow a team of hero's and their support.

If you are a hero by yourself or your ditching the crew that means no one is recording or uploading your hero acts meaning you get no payment or recognition.

Post them here

That was my idea. I was thinking that my character goes along with the crew sometimes when they need him but then ditches them for the rest of the time cause he doesn't care about the recognition.
It can work but I'd rather players make characters that stick together or at least work in pairs so I'm not always being GM for a single person while elsewhere is the rest of the cast with the main plot

Or I could be part of the crew. I just had an idea for that type of character. How much recognition would the crew get vs. the heroes?
It depends what they are doing really.
A cameraman who gets good footage and is in the thick of danger would need mandatory shout-outs from the hero being filmed would get sponsorships etc

A support person who helps fight would be seen as a part time hero

If they do good work they would.

It's a mixture of YouTube and a UN government sorta deal that allocates payments by a rating system. On top of that companies making tech, clothes, music whatever might want to sponsor or pay hero/Support to use their products or mention stuff.

So a editor can have a fan base,
a person making equipment could have a cult following

If your suggesting a caddy like character who runs in and hands the hero stuff as needed while in battle I imagine they would get a fair bit of recognition.

That somewhat goes against the whole groups motivation of...
Paying the rent and making enough money to live decent.

Aha no one knowing about what you do, as a hero or support means no money etc

Vigilante justice is cool and all but I'm looking for characters to fit the group dynamic a bit more as in "motivated to chip in" lol

Some examples of the type of people on HeroWatch off the top of my head.

A support mechanic who fights with the tools and tech they make who also does unboxing/showcase videos of the stuff they make or which company donated the materials for said shit.

A pyromancer hero who stars in a cooking show using their power.

A team of heroes and support who run a pay per view super fight club, sponsored by...
Lalo's ChickenTM
MmmColaTM - the best cola.
Beats by Dre.

I thought that the heroes would be the big moneymakers. I was thinking my guy mostly just did video editing and upkeep on the equipment.

The hero's would have a easier time making money as they would be on screen more so then those behind the scenes.

pm further questions to me please

I'd be interested in making a support character. More brainy, with a related superpower (thinking something along the lines of her being able to see/manipulate part of the electromagnetic spectrum to mess with data/wifi), and fills a sidekick/manager type role for whatever supe she's attached to.

Though I do have to ask how fast you expect the game to move?

Sounds great, as for the games pace...
I'm hoping each player can post a few paragraphs at least twice a week.

If some are able to post more that's encouraged but to avoid people with more free time dominating the story we will work with a post order

1, 2, 3 then you
Meaning let three others post before you do again.
(Edit the numbers if more or less players aha)

This sounds like an amusing take on things! I was thinking about a professional "villain" approach with a regeneration power and an acting background, but am concerned it would be difficult to tie that to a particular group though so unsure if it would fit well with the dynamic?
If we had enough players we could do a villian faction but as of now it's just the hero side.

Maybe if people want to they can double up and play a hero and a villian

To exapand a bit it's more a support for hero's, the thought was to fake the villain side of things to drum up content when there otherwise is none, or to be able to fit the action to a trending side of things by acting the part and taking a fall.
That fits in perfectly. Other hero's and support fake stuff for content, why not our hero's?

Sounds good!
I like this idea! Do you want us to PM you our character sheet?
I'd be interested in this! It sounds super cool!

Character page is up guys

This is a very creative idea. Tons of RPs for heroes or trying to be heroes, very few for pretending to be heroes.

Do you still have room and if so, for what roles?

Always have room, any role you want as long as they are apart of the group/team being pushed together
