Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC Chat) - Chapter Six

Heya Gang! Just a little peek in the past for you, my wonderful players. Years ago, when I was developing the groundwork for Robotech: Broadsword, I was watching Robotech videos on YouTube to get an idea of what the Robotech world was like (since I'd never watched any episodes of the series and still largely haven't today). This video in particular opened my eyes a bit.

A clip from Episode 52 - "Love Song." "Emersons War With The Robotech Masters"

About the 4:40 mark, an important conversation takes place. In it, General Emerson gets the idea of using a "Molecular Vacuum" technique in which:

Officer: "Space within a radius of 2 kilometers can be warped."

Emerson: "Yes, and what happens to non-orbital objects in that space?'

Officer: "They'd almost certainly break up into atoms and be sucked into a small black hole on a one-way trip to another dimension."

Bang! Right there, I had the idea that if Robotech allowed for dimensional travel (however hazardous), then why couldn't I use that to my story's advantage? If it were not for that scene, we might not have Ura-Meltrandi, Zeki-Zentraedi, MechaKitten/Trouble or anything else from the Wild Cards' future (including the Broadsword). Something else would have taken their places. Some other story. I imagine it would have been less interesting and entertaining than this one. =)

Just thought I'd share that little something with you. =)

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

Thanks for the remark - makes sense, given how it got damaged, but I somehow had the wrong image in mind. Took the liberty to adjust that real quick to make sure it won't confuse me later on.

Thanks for making the adjustment, Sil! I am just as likely to get confused by it! Hah!

Silanon Silanon D. Rex D. Rex I was going to post today, but after D.'s cool post, I am going to wait to post until Sil gets a chance to post again and reply to Ricky. =)

That'sa lotta use of the word "post!" =)

Cool! I figured you were busy because you normally post in your own game this more frequently than this. Action awaits in both of our games! Woo!

It'll probably take a while longer for me to get a post up - maybe tomorrow or the day after, I'll see how things work out. Life's been a bit of a struggle the last few days, unfortunately...

Silanon Silanon Hang in there, Sil, and take your time. If you don't have the time for a full post but do have time to tell me what it is you want Ylva to do, I can work with that. And if time doesn't allow that, then no worries! The game will be here. Thanks for keeping us updated! I really like it when you do that. =)

Thanks for the patience and the offer - for now, I'm looking forward to finally sit down for an hour or two and figure out what to post, just have to find the time and mindset to do just that. I'll let you know if I feel like I'm not getting there without delaying for too long, but hopefully that won't be necessary.

You're welcome! You deserve it, Sil. Take your time and have fun with it. Roleplaying often puts my soul in a smiling place. =)

Heya Gang! Chuck Walton II is one of my favorite artists. His work inspires me. The detail and quality of his work engages my ADHD-brain on a regular basis.

If you've got 13 minutes to spend, here is a 2012 interview with Mr. Chuck Walton II. =)

Well damn, trust an android (or couple of dozen) to take an idea and dial it up to 11.”!

Captain Hesperus

I've learned I'm the kind of Game Master that must create NPCs that are interesting to me (and my ADHD aids me in this - I was born with an overactive imagination, so why not keep using it for everyone's benefit?). Engaging, entertaining, whatever it may be, each must have some quality that I like to RP or I don't bother putting them into my games. I figure if they grab and keep my attention, chances are, my PCs will feel similarly. Automatons included. =)

Besides, who wants a bunch of bland old androids who just stand around like suits of armor in a museum? Where's the fun in that, right? Give me lively characters with personality! Therein lies the fun! =)

Oh and thanks, Cap'n! I started writing that last post out of gratitude for the post you left! =)

Edited my post just a bit, please refresh if you read it right after I posted. ^33^

Psychie Psychie Hey! Does Toph have anything she wants to add? Can't forget our favorite Muppet! =)

Purr Purr
Would Ricky's sidearm still be where he left it when he couldn't take it through the portal?

And would the bomb be something that would have been noticed in preflight checks or it be assumed that given the time-sensitive nature of the mission, that preflight checks were skipped?

Also.... my poor baby :(

Thanks for the Hearts and Cookies! You know who you are!

D. Rex D. Rex
1. I'm glad you asked about Ricky's LP-3 laser pistol. It and the spare magazine are missing! They are not near the exit where Ricky left them (insert Twilight Zone Theme here!).

2. I'm not a pilot, but I honestly don't think something like this would be on a pre-flight check. In what understanding I have from my military aviation books, one does not check the pilot's chair for a bomb or a parachute. The majority of things pilots are looking for are structural damage, electrical failures, and anything that even remotely might get in the way of the operation of the aircraft. I have never before read pilots checking their seats for anything (in any era).

3. Yeah! Poor Jezebel! =)

Sherwood hasn't read D. and Sil's prologues I see. *tease tease* =)

I've glanced over at them, but I must admit, I did not read them in detail.
