Grey Grey Yeah...

BTW, I think you meant to say that the lowest of the highest 2 Attributes counts for Affinity Attunements. If only the lowest of the lowest 2 count then it's functionally no different than needing to raise all 3 Attributes to increase the Attunement by +1 (meaning it's just as difficult as Opposing Attunements).

Oh, yeah, you're right. That post got rewritten a couple of times while I was trying to find the clearest explanation and I must've missed a word.

Defence
Defence: Dexterity + Defence
Parry: Defence + Parry Focus, etc
Evade: Defence + Evade Focus, etc

Finished my fire-loving chef-doctor-alchemist. Do tell me if something needs changing.

Looks okay; some minor adjustments to Advantages I would suggest:

Familiarity - +1 die on Mingling, Persuasion, Subterfuge when talking with people of the Bulwark.

Knowledge - +1 die on Academics, Craft, and Medicine when making and using his personal recipes.

Training is a bit trickier, and I would recommend:

Training - Combat Medic
No one in the Regiments can afford to be incapable of fighting.
+1 die on Awareness, Defence, and Ranged when fighting to withdraw and protect patients.

D. Rex D. Rex That sounds great. I always love coming up with pre-established relationships. Here's some bullet points I'm building my character around that might be helpful:

- Born daughter of a powerful and infamous Windborne sky pirate (uses wind and fire martial arts, considering having his pirate name be Smokebeard because his beard and hair are literally smoke :coolshades:)
- Grew up sort of raised by the whole crew of the ship
- Not the best father (cared more about adventuring than her and got bored with her desires for attention)
- Strove to prove herself to win her father's affection
- Had a falling out with her father (not sure how severe I want it to be but right now I'm thinking she actually got banished and only managed to not walk the plank because she was his daughter, haven't decided the specifics of the falling out yet)
- Left to look for a crew she could join up with and make a name for herself (and definitely not in naive hopes of earning her father's affection finally)

Some of these points are negotiable. So what did you have in mind?

Awesome! Would love to talk them out then. Pardon my brief and late response!

I think all of that can line up pretty well with the story beats I was going for.

-Crewman of an Infamous pirate
-worked his way up to become a helmsman
-during his time, he grew familiar with airship mechanics and constructs
-the ship fell to pirate hunters with PC able to avoid a fatal crash landing for himself and the survivors
-took the djinn from the wreckage and has been with it since

Not a lot there to be honest, and it's all pretty malleable. So I can pretty easily warp him into helping the pirate princess.

Epiphany Epiphany Esbilon Esbilon

Just checking you two are still in; not here to rush you.
Malozing had to withdraw, and I'm curious to see what you come up with.
I am interested, it's just the finding the time. Or taking the time really. I'll try to get there this week, if not I probably shouldn't be depended on.

Honestly I've got no problem giving you most of the month. I know how busy you can get, and we're going to be a while figuring out where the crew will be starting, and why, and reasons they have to work together.

Familiarity and knowledge seems good, I will apply that. Though for training I don't think I want to change firewielder, it's looks niche, but I don't really care. +1academic, investigation and awareness when executing actions related with fire.

Hm, now it looks like more of a knowledge than training, eh. Actually, maybe I will just move firewielder into extra element for his knowledge.

I'll accept +1 die when fighting in a burning location or with fire-based weapons, in which case. It'll synergize with Seska.

Lots of fire folk! Seska and Otto. And while my char doesnt have any powers. He does have a fire djinn and a focus of fire based engines and technology kind of stuff.

Then add on that the daughter of a fearsome fire pirate!

LMAO, its even funnier because if I had made my character a fire bender wielder she basically would have been Zuko.

Grey Grey Shouldn't the Unarmed combat stat be Dexterity + Unarmed, not Dexterity + Melee? (Probably won't matter for most, mainly just me)

D. Rex D. Rex Her father isn't a fire pirate, per se. He still primarily uses air, being a Windborne and all, but his second highest Attunment would be fire. I was thinking that his ship could spew huge plumes of steam to act as smoke screens and artificial cloud cover to launch ambushes from (not that it matters much, but it's cool to think about).

Lol, "raised by the crew", "helping the pirate princess"...so you want your guy to be the Iroh to my Zuko?

Haha! I would be most honored to play the Iroh to your Zuko.

I can work him in easily under the Captain Cinderbeard. Or Smokebeard lol.

I will need to think of a good way to get the fire djinn. Since my current way was from a crashed endjinn. So maybe we can work with that, maybe related to the Princesses daring escape.

Grey Grey I know you got a lot on your plate preparing for this rp (and probably life), but have you thought anymore about a lightning element Attunement?

D. Rex D. Rex Maybe you got the fire djinn from one of Smokebeard's many victims. That's the easiest explanation I can think of. Smokebeard prefers boarding ships as opposed to blasting them to pieces out of the sky (since he's a martial artist). That means you'd be more likely to encounter lightly or undamaged endjinns.

If not, and you want to really work with the idea of having the djinn from Smokebeard's airship, maybe Smokebeard wasn't going to spare my character life but before she could be executed your character pulled some shenanigan (causing the ship to crash) in order to protect her and give them both a chance to escape.

I'm fine with either, but feel free to suggest something different.

I'm loving the second option. It's fun, exciting, and gives us some very potent enemies.

Pulling the power from the ship, uses the pandemonium of the falling ship to grab the princess and they both on a life boat, with the Captain being unable to follow. It also gives a good bond between our char to start off with.

D. Rex D. Rex Cool, I'll with the second option in mind when writing my character's backstory. Any other info you need from me at the moment to work on your character?

Just a couple things, what sort of age they are, and some things about the princess that might inspire him to betray the Captain and crew in such a way?

D. Rex D. Rex She's pretty young. Close to 18, but I haven't decided on a specific age yet. I don't care what age you make your guy. It'll be interesting regardless of whether he's a similar age or older.

Plenty of options for motivation to help her. Maybe he just thought execution was too harsh a punishment (especially since she's young and still learning). Maybe he disliked how much the captain neglected her and took it upon himself to fill that parental role in her childhood (though she probably wouldn't see him as a parent). Maybe he used to have a kid(s) of his own and he's projecting how he felt about them onto her. Maybe they're childhood friends. The skies the limit (pun intended). It's really up to you.

I think I will go with young to mid twenties ish.

I'll think of a good reason! And probably a combination of some of what you provided. Definitely didnt like how she was treated mor the harshness of the punishment. But since he also got into pirating at a young age, I can definitely see them having developed an early friendship with her.
