In ACT I, Abel Lazuli encountered a greater daemon by the name of MARBAS. MARBAS had asked Abel a question, forewarning that his life may be at stake if he answered incorrectly. Thinking that the lion figure may be playing tricks, he answered vaguely, and in turn, lied, and the daemon punished Abel for it. MARBAS decided to spare Abel's life, and merely took one of his legs as punishment. Upon leaving Abel battered and mangled, he also placed his own seal within Abel, marking the young acolyte.
