Have you ever wondered how to completely disable a unicorns magic? Or how to ground a griffon, permanently:pinkiecrazy:? Then you need to read up on our ponies anatomy. I will comment on this thread whenever I update the data within. Suggestions? Lay them on me.
The Pony Races
There are four organic subspecies of the Pony race and one inorganic race. Due to the oddness of crystal ponies they will be described as their own race.
The race of two ponies offspring can typically be determined using a punnet square with E(earth) being dominant P(Pegasus) being recessive U(Unicorn) being very recessive and B(Bat) being the most recessive
An example of the offspring of ponies with 1 of each gene could be any of these
EEPP: 6.3 % Earth
EEBP: 12.5 %Earth
UEPP: 12.5 %Earth
UEBP: 25 %Earth
EEBB: 6.3 %Earth
UEBB: 12.5 %Earth
UUPP: 6.3 %Pegasus
UUBP: 12.5 %Pegasus
UUBB: 6.3 %Unicorn (Fun fact: Ms. Cake did not have to cheat on Mr. Cake to get the twins, but she probably did >.>)
Gripping
In order to grip ponies have three different abilities working for them
1. The Harmony Tendon- This tendon allows a pony to bend their front hoof around a a larger object such as a mug.
2. Micro Fur- The fur at the end of a ponies leg reacts to the electrical current admitted from the Stem Nerve strand. When the fur receives an electrical current they temporarily bond with what ever they are touching. The bond is very weak, but is strong enough to make holding objects with hooves viable
3. The Stem Nerve Strand- This nerve strand runs along the Harmony tendon and sends electrical currents throughout the leg. Due to its ability to regenerate it is often cut to hold a pony captive. (Note human nerves do not regenerate once they are destroyed so don't go off and damage your nerves)
4. The Mouth- A ponies mouth is flooded with antibacterial and antiviral compounds allowing them to pick up objects with their mouth without worry of contamination. The mouth is used when excessive force will be placed on the object.
The Earth Pony
The physically strongest and magically weakest of the pony races. Vegetarian race
1. An earth ponies Neck muscles are the strongest in its body and make it nearly impossible to be killed by choking without magic
2. The second strongest muscles in an earth pony is its back legs. Cut the achilles tendon and an earth pony will be defenseless.
3. An earth pony has the second shortest life span of 89 years to 140 years. The oldest recorded was 178.1 years old
The Pegasus
The quickest of the pony races and minor magical power. They also eat small quantities of meat in order to sustain their magical abilities
Magic
1. The most obvious form of magic used by pegasus is weather manipulation. This magic is controlled by the Stem Nerve Strand and will be rendered useless if it is cut. Pegasus will also lose thier ability to walk on clouds when the strand is cut.
2. The less obvious, but more common form of pegasus magic is flight. The magic required flows through the mass nerve bundle. Cut this and a pegasus will become a vegetable for months. If damaged the affects will vary.
3. The Mass Nerve Bundle- All of a pegasus's magic flows through these nerves. It begins at the base of a pegasus brain before it travels down its throat and into its chest muscles. It then wraps around its right shoulder and latches onto the spine and follows into the base of the tail.
Muscles
1. The pegasus strongest muscle is its pectoral muscles. These strengthened muscles allows a pegasus to catch air currents without its wings being ripped out of socket.
2. A pegasuses second strongest muscles are its front leg muscles. These muscles reduce the chance of a break or sprain when a pegasus makes a ruff landing.
3. Due to Pegasus life style and magical properties they have the shortest pony life span of 60 to 80 years. The oldest pegasus was 98.7 years old
The Unicorn
The most magical of the pony races. Physical strength varies. This race has to have at least some meat in their diet, but they also cannot survive on an all meat diet (Think nonvegatarian humans)
Magic
1.Dissonance String- This group of nerves flows from the brain stem, along the skull, and into the center of a unicorns horn. If Cut these nerves will render all magical abilities of the unicorn useless. (Fun Fact: This nerve was discovered by inquisitors during the age of chaos. It was shortly believed that magic was the cause of chaos, but luckily for the unicorns it was quickly dismissed even though the name stuck)
2. The Horn- Houses the Dissonance String. The horn covers the only part of the dissonance string that can be accessed without great damage to the ponies head, unless done by medical personal
3. Harmony Core- Responsible for a unicorns great magical power compared to all other civilized species, excluding dragons. It is located directly underneath the horn. If great trauma to the horn or the harmony core is removed then magical abilities will be restricted or destroyed completely. (Fun Fact: The harmony core was discovered shortly after the Celestial sisters defeated Discord. Due to the sisters great magical ability the previous view that magic caused dissonance was destroyed and the opposite view was implemented and the name once again stuck.)
4. Due to the unicorns highly magical body they have the longest average life span of any pony race. A unicorn's magic will constantly remove the affects of negative aging. However at birth unicorns are inflicted with dum mortem which begin to fight against the unicorns ambient magic responsible for their age reduction. Due to this condition the average unicorn will die at 200 years old, but if a unicorn continues to improve their magical strength they could in theory live forever. The age for oldest unicorn is unknown.
