I don’t care if he was even your best friend you had since you were young, he needs to know one way or another that you have boundaries, and that you are not interested. He needs to learn how you really feel, even if it hurts him or even you in the process. But yeah, you could always tell him in the way that makes you all still friends in the end, that works too.
