Charles Icaros

One of the Rebels' Apartment buildings.

"Well, might as well make myself useful," Charles said to himself as he walked over to Eris and tapped on her shoulder, saying, "Excuse me, I'm Charles Icaros. Do you need any help around here or anything that needs to be done?" He wanted to do something to help out the group he was with.

Sark Tertius

En Route to a Rebel Research Lab

"Alrighty, now. Stay safe." Sark hung up the phone as he noticed a roadblock a few meters in front of him. Surrounding it were military soldiers. "Ah, great. Another checkpoint." He slowed down so that he wouldn't crash into the car in front of him. Next to the checkpoint tent was a strange machine, one Sark has never seen before. "What the heck is that?" He lowered his sunglasses to get a clearer look of the machine.

Ezekiel Strauss Commercial District Apartment building, rebel hideout. REALLY OCCUPIED

Ezekiel listened as he heard the rebels talk about their job, also the food stocks, Zeek raised his hand "I'll take any of the above, I'm not particularly picky, hungry as hell though." He stomach rumbled to punctuate the statement. "My brain needs a hell of a lot more calories since then rain...gotta say skipping breakfast wasn't my best idea." Then thinking about their mission statement he began again, knowing full well his sister was in the governments clutches, "You know what happens to those who get captured? All I've gotten on the streets are rumors." I don't have to worry about June's physical well being, invincibility and all, but if they're trying to injure her or use her for tests...I will slay them.

"Ace"

Apartments

Ace looked over to the meta who introduced himself as Noah. "Oh, Hello there." Ace said as he closed the cabinet he was currently looking at before turning around to face him. "So you were one of the ones that nearly got caught by the military." He crossed his arms and laughed a bit. "Well you should really try not to lose your lunch in the sewers. Food is becoming harder to come across now so I would try to hold onto as much of it as possible." He suggested before turning around to grab an apple as he tossed it to Noah. Turning his attention to the owner of the apartment he spoke in a nonchalant manner. "This is one of the parts of having your apartment as a hideout. Sorry bud but you gotta deal."

Eris Dimitris

Highrise hideout

Eris nodded slightly “Yeah I know. Stay out of trouble okay?” She smirked slightly before hanging up. She felt a tap on her shoulder and came face to face with one of the teens who had joined their little group. “Ah well nice to meet you Charles anyone willing to lend a hand is appreciated. As for what to do right now I'm guessing finding a better hiding spot is in order.” She chuckled softly looking over as the owner of the apartment entered with two girls. “Ah well Bently you were having company you should have let me know ahead of time.” She teased with a small chuckle. “Sorry for the crowd your place was the closest. Hopefully we’ll be out of your hair soon.” She assured already texting one of the other metas in their group.

She turned to the rest of the group in the crowded apartment and sighed softly. One of the other blonds in the room who she hadn’t gotten a name for yet spoke up with a question about captured metas “Ah well… as far as we know they are taken to one of the restricted zones… Common one is the Gentech facility from what we’ve gathered. A few metas have tried breaking in for one reason or another but… haven’t made it out.” She replied a bit of worry entering her tone. “It’s not exactly an easy place to enter even harder to leave.” She informed.

Ezekiel Strauss - Apartment building

A slight look of disappointment crossed Zeek's face. He looked down a bit, his first clenched. Breaking in was not going to be an option for a long time. He mentally seethed, damn it...blocked probably have the best tech for dealing with metas as well...damn it all to hell! He returned his attention to the current situation and nodded, "ahh I see...security nothing to joke at I guess." Still angry rumblings were building under the surface. I'll get her back. Even If I have to rip through every guard in that building...

Mai Hyuuga

Mai had been listening to what was going on then she got an idea. She might be able to help. She walked up to the girl. "Um hey you know I happen to stay in the same building. Some of you could stay in my apartment if that'll help." She said with her pet dove still sitting in her shoulder.

Rebel Hideout- Apartments

"I suppose I could go out to find a new place for us," Charles said, looking around, noticing how crowded the place looked. He didn't tell anyone his social status or his family situation. Charles has done his share of wandering around, looking for other Meta and referring them to the Rebel leaders so that they could find a better place to stay and out of military hands. His parents told him to do that, anyway.

Sark Tertius

Military Checkpoint

Sark saw that a soldier was walking towards his car with a clipboard and some papers. "Ah, crap," Sark said to himself, subtly taking off his sunglasses to put on some fake eye-color contact lenses to hide the mutation in his eyes, then putting on his sunglasses again. Sark sighed and smiled as the soldier reached his car and asked, "Hello, sir, could I see some identification, please?" Sark pulled out a fake I.D. card and showed it to the Soldier, who looked at all the details on it. Handing the card back to Sark, the soldier asked Sark to park his car on the side and come with him to the tent. There were 5 soldiers surrounding the tent, along with 1 manning the mounted gun on a jeep.

The one who looked to be the captain asked Sark to sit down as they tested him with some questions, then they asked him for a blood sample. Sark had to give it up to keep suspicion away from him. The captain put the blood in the strange machine, which then started to blare loudly. The soldiers drew their guns on Sark. "
So, you thought you could hide from us, eh, monster?" How did they figure me out? Sark thought to himself. What is that machine?

Noah Chengxao

Rebel Apartment Hideout Kitchen

Noah gratefully caught the apple and sat down on a seat inside the kitchen. The apartment wasn't much, but it was more roomy than the one he had. The owner of the hideout, Bentley he presumes, seemed a bit intimidating. Yet....quirky as he seems to have a lot of apples. Does he work on a farm or sell fruit?

"I didn't nearly get caught by the military." Noah said as he wiped the apple. "I was exploring the sewers and I heard the commotion." Noah bit into the apple. "I joined the group when they ran into the sewers as well. I did however meet the goo meta you spoke of earlier though."

@Godman873

"Ace"

Apartments

Ace closed the cabinet behind him as he continued to talk with the kid named Noah. "I don't care where you were, I just know most of this group got caught and you were in there too, as far as I am concerned you were almost caught like they were." He listened to Noah say how he had meta the goo meta before, the one that Ace found disgusting and deserved to stay locked in the sewers, the only reason he never considered trapping it and locking it away was that it kept the military out of there allowing him to travel around on his own free will whenever he wanted to. "So you met it? How violent is it? What can or can't it eat? Why is it in the sewers?" The more he knew about it the easier it would be to capture it and seal it away. Once he had the goo meta captured and contained the next one would have to be that dragon thing.

Noah Chengxao

Rebel Hideout Apartment - Highrise District

Noah ate more of the apple. It was pretty good getting fruit into his system. Noah could see Ace's point, what if the military was brave enough to risk going into the sewers despite Creepy? They would be in a sticky situation. As Ace asked some questions about Creepy, Noah shook his head.

"Well she isn't violent...just very hungry. She has a fast metabolism and consumes things by breaking them down in her "body." She can only eat things that provide nutrients such as vegetables, any meat like rats, i've even seen her eat a human." Noah said shuddering. It was his fault that soldier got eaten. "Unfortunately she was incapable of leaving the sewers while I was with her. The acidity of her goo broke down the ladder as she tried to climb out of the manhole."

"Ace"

Apartments

Ace listened to Noah go on about the goo meta, it did nothing but peak his interest more. This goo meta was going to be a problem, if it ate through humans then that left a question of 'what couldn't it eat through?' Ace put his hand in his pocket as he felt one of the card decks, they would be completely nullified by the meta, if it's physiology was anything like Ace was thinking he would have to come up with a more creative way to handle it. Perhaps a vacuum would be the appropriate way to handle the situation, at least it was stuck in the sewers as long as no one attempted to take it to the surface. Breaking from his thoughts Ace looked back to Noah in an attempt to end the conversation. "Thank you friend, I appreciate the information." Ace said as he walked back into the same room as everyone else.

Mitchel & Sssam

Someone's apartment

Sssam had actually fallen asleep around Mitchel's neck, as he was exhausted from running his mouth so much. Mitchel kept ignoring everything around him as he was now sketching a portrait of someone, it still looked a bit cartoonish but it was as serious as Mitchel could sketch. Sssam had woke up and looked around the room remembering what had gone on within the last few hours. Mitchel had completely failed to notice Sssam staring at what Mitchel was sketching. Sssam frowned when he saw what Mitchel had been sketching. He spoke in a whisper to Mitchel as he grew worried about him. "Mitchel, it was in the past, let it go." Mitchel ignored Sssam's comment and continued to sketch the near finished portrait. Sssam watched as he knew what Mitchel would do next to the portrait. As he looked at the picture for a moment he had then drawn a hole in the center of the forehead, the hole became more recognizable as a bleeding gunshot wound. Sssam looked at it shocked, grabbing the pencil with the end of his tail and yanking it out of Mitchel's very loose grip. "Quit it! It wasn't just your fault it was mine too! Now let it go!" Sssam whispered aggressively towards Mitchel who closed the notebook and nodded. "Perhaps I should have a nice chat with one of people in this room then, to get my mind off of it." Sssam nodded happy that Mitchel broke himself out of it for once. "Yes, you should. You have followed these people through the sewers and you haven't said a word to them yet." Mitchel put the sketch pad away as he stood up from the corner of the room he was sitting in as he looked around trying to figure out who was who.

Sark Tertius

Military Check Point

"Men, take aim!" The captain announced as the soldiers aimed their rifles at Sark. Sark put his hands up, as if he was surrendering, but he lowered his head with a grin on his face. "Showtime," he whispered.

"
FIRE!" The captain shouted. Just as the soldiers pulled their triggers, Sark snapped his hand, causing the gravity around him to heavily increase, making all the bullets fall to the ground. "Hold your fire!" The soldiers stopped firing, which made Sark lift his head slightly and cause a gravity pulse around him, making the soldiers drop to their knees. Sark ran at one of the soldiers with a vector sphere in hand and forced it onto the head of the soldier, bashing the soldier's skull onto the concrete ground. Sark then picked up the soldier's gun and began firing at the other soldiers and killing them, dodging behind a sandbag when the one on the jeep fired on Sark. "Well, this is a bind," Sark said, still smiling as he stared at the machine. Should I destroy it? Or take it with me? he thought to himself. He decided to do the former. Creating a vector sphere in his hand, he threw the sphere at the jeep, causing it to launch backwards as he fired at the gas tank, causing the jeep to explode. He destroyed the radio on the table next to the machine as he walked back to his car and lessened the gravity of the machine and put it in the back of his SUV and drove off, continuing his way to the Rebel research labs with a new toy for him to play with.

Rebel Hideout

Kuro gulped and slowly raised his hand. He had been standing still for the past few... How many minutes have passed, actually? He tried to look around, but it was a bit too crowded. He sighed and slowly inched to the floor, holding his arms around his knees. Would it be better to just wait here? He slowly realized that the hiding place request. "Yes..." he muttered. Did he hear him? Probably not. "Y-Yes, please..." he said a little bit louder. Well, hopefully he heard him that time, because he certainly couldn't say it any louder. He felt really nervous with all the other people around him, squished to the ground.

Rebel Apartment Hideout

Noah nodded his head towards Ace before finishing his apple. He followed the meta into the room where the others were. One of them were suggesting to find another, more roomy hideout. Noah considered his apartment, but it was small and not as luxurious since it is in the Brownstone district. Noah did have a map however, and it could be used to find/track their progress.

"Where are you going to look?" Noah asked. He wanted to know what he would get himself into if the was going to help.

Highrise Apartment, Occupancy: Too much

Zephaniah kept focusing on the dead weight of his sat-phone in his pocket. His father would be furious right about now. He had to think fast if he would make it out of here before Apache helicopters with searchlights began roaming the skies of the city. He pulled one of the important-looking ones aside, the one with the card obsession, and made his case in a hushed tone. Current company may not be too fond of the children of authorities. "I would like nothing more than to help your cause, I'm tired of sitting around, waiting for the eradication of the infected, but my father is a pretty-high-up in the military, her mom is a cop." Zeph said, gesturing to Ione, who was making herself useful by reviving the local house-plants. "You can probably see how this puts us in a predicament. We can't be too involved with this stuff without putting it in jeopardy anyway, so I propose a deal: We keep in touch, you need information? You got it. Need supplies? Name it. In return, you keep me in the loop of anything big, so I know when to lay low, and you try to keep casualties to a minimum, even if they are trying to kill you, they're taking orders, none of the troops know the truth of what's happening." Hostage negotiation training was coming in handy; Zeph's voice was calm, but insistent, giving subconscious messages of authority, but without seeming forceful or agitated. "As a gesture of good faith, I'll tell you one thing now: The local police are more sympathetic of the Metas, a lot of them are Metas, because they were here when shit went down, but good luck reasoning with the boys in green, they are trained not to think, just shoot." Zephaniah said, flashing back to his own training. He pushed the thought from his head, Now's not the time to remember the last time you saw your father, or think about the fact that it may be the last time you saw your father... fuck. Puppies, kittens, Ione, cheesecake... better. Oh! Right, important, life-changing deal. Zeph thought, returning his focus to the card man and extended his hand. "Do we have a deal?"

Meanwhile on the other side of the room...

Ione entertained herself with a small fern in the windowsill, making it form different shapes, waiting for Zeph to get done with his big-boy talk. She always felt a little left out when he made decision for her, but he had yet to lead her wrong. Plus, for once, Ione had no idea what to do. Normally she'd at least have some opinion to be indignant about Zeph ignoring, but this... rebellion thing, it was much bigger than anything she'd had to deal with before. She felt scared, helpless. It didn't help that she was probably the least helpful person in this room. Everyone had a cool power that could kick ass and take names. Ione could make ferns dance. Whoopty-fucking-doo. Her power was the weakest, but she was one of the only ones slowly losing herself because of it. She didn't even get to lose herself in the fun way, with everything becoming sunshine and rainbows, locked in a cushy room with three square meals a day. She got to learn from her doctor that her tissue was turning into plant cells. Know this: Groot would not be able to move with tree bark for skin, that's bullshit. One day, she'd be the world's largest bonsai art. Or a coffee table in Pittsburg or something. If she was sure alcohol would have any effect on her, she'd hit the bottle hard whenever she had the chance, because this life sucked.

Ace looked at the extended hand considering the deal. "We get supplies and information and all we have to do is tell you anything unusual might happen while you also beg us not to fight the military who try to kill us." Ace thought about it, the deal was too good. In fact, it made him a bit worried. He couldn't exactly trust this kid and his father was high up in the military, for all he knew they could use said information to ambush and execute them. On the other hand food was desperately needed but this price could be too steep, then you had the other issue that he already knows about this hideout, it wouldn't be safe anymore and they'd have to completely relocate its owner. Lying to the kid was always an option but if he ever found out that would not turn out well. Ace would be making a deal with the devil, it could sell the entire group out and get them all killed, it was not worth the price. He slapped the hand down obviously rejecting the deal. "How about this, if the military try to start shit with us, we fight back. If anything more than a single squad comes in I will find and kill your father, put this whole thing to rest. Now kid, just make like my brother and disappear." Ace adjusted his arm so with a flick of his wrist he could send a card right to his hand if there was about to be anything hostile, with any luck he would be able to throw a spade across the arrogant kid's jugular before he attempted an attack.

Eris Dimitris ~ Ariana Pierce

Highrise hideout

Eris noticed the look in the blond kids eyes it was the same many other who had lost family or friends to the science labs. “No it’s not I’m sorry. We are working on a way to get in there and save the other Metas who have been caught though. It’s just slightly difficult to try and take care of everyone while also running missions.” She admitted while scratching the back of her head. She turned to the other who had offered their places or to find a place to stay and smiled slightly “Thank you, any new safe houses are always welcomed. We have several located around the city. Most of them serve as temporary shelter or like now, a place to regroup and organize.”

Ari listened to the woman make her explanations and was on the fence about the whole thing. On the one hand it would be helpful to have others to fall back on should she ever get into a tight situation, but on the other she liked being on her own and not worrying about others. She avoided other people more often than not. She sighed, she didn’t know if the military knew what she looked like or what she was. It was unclear if she was still free and clear to walk around without issue or would be captured on site.

Eris looked over seeing one of the kids speaking with ace, and judging by the look on Ace’s face she would have to get involved. “uh one moment.” She muttered excusing herself from the conversation and making her way over to the pair over hearing the last bit of Aces threat and growled under her breath. She walked up and smack Ace over the head before crossing her arms. “Threatening people is not how we get help. I’ve told you this.” She scolded before looking over the kid who looked like he was about to go nuclear and had to defuse the situation. The last thing they needed was to loss another hide out. “Look were not a violent group, we’re just trying to survive in all of this chaos.”

@Godman873 @Silent Justice @animegirl20

Cyrus Grayson

Sewers

Cyrus would have let himself ponder just how he came to be surrounded by the Metas he had been set on avoiding, but a nuisance had disturbed his thoughts, just as it did his progress. When the girl threatened to report everyone assembled to the authorities, there were mixed reactions all around. In the bluenette's case, he had been fully intent on killing the woman on the spot.

After observing her appearance and the way she spoke, he could tell that she was weak. Physically and mentally, the red-haired stranger posed no threat to him. However, it would be extremely inconvenient if he were to be discovered after working in the shadows for so long.

Before he could destroy every nerve in the girl's body, an idea wormed its way inside his head. While she was indeed weak and very green behind the ears for a Meta, which she seemed to be, he could abuse these traits that she possessed. As long as she was appeased by making her way to the surface, he would be in the clear.

Once again weighing the costs and benefits of associating himself with this girl, he had come to a decision. All negative effects had already turned into a reality, leaving only the potential for a pawn of sorts. While this could be considered cruel to many, Cyrus didn't see it that way. In fact, he had no feelings in regards to this woman or his methods of dealing with her. As long as he could benefit from it and further his goals, nothing was beneath him.

Putting his plans of turning the redhead into an ice cube on the back-burner, he began to plan out his next action. He had already decided on tracking this girl for later, her fear and overall personality highly exploitable, but there was an issue. With the soldier, it was simple to approach him and come into contact after concealing himself in the mist. However, he was hidden no longer, now out in the open and surrounded. Suddenly grabbing the girl would label him as a suspicious person and affect her overall opinion towards him, which would factor into his later plans. There was a lot to take into account.

After running possible scenarios through his head, he was finally able to settle on something that would yield the best results that were possible at the moment. Looking down at his hands, the absence of gloves were obvious, as they were replaced by the place complexion of his skin. It was probably best to get this over with now, lest the other group of Metas get too far.

Approaching the girl with a head of crimson, he held no expression, as he always did. Slowly, he raised his hand, something that had been used to kill several people. Inching closer, his piercing blue eyes bore into hers, able to see his reflection clearly. The pale hand was now in close proximity to her face, unable to feel the heat from just how close his open palm was to her flesh. With this stance that had brought death to many, he curled his index finger to where it met his thumb and...flicked her forehead.

Any tension that may have built up during his approach had disappeared instantly after the sudden move. Yes, this was what he had decided upon, the most suitable way to make contact. While it may have been simplistic and possibly even idiotic, there was a lot of thought that went into the decision.

The flick was not performed in a rough manner, giving a light thud at best. Rather than an intimidating grip of the arm or something along those lines, the gesture was often viewed as playful, something he had been able to observe during more lighthearted moments. In addition, the action required minimal contact with his own skin, using the nail of the finger. As an added bonus, she was incapable of viewing that spot on her own. Even if the mark wasn't physically visible, it was still a useful buffer.

After his task had been completed, Cyrus placed both of his hands within the comfort of the pockets provided by his jacket. Turning around, he left the group without a word, wanting to waste no more time than he already had. It would be annoying if he ended up missing a valuable source of information.

Even as he walked down the dark tunnels, barely able to make out the clear path that stood out in the layers of filth, his mind was only filled with thoughts about gathering intel on the rebels and anything relating to the military presence. Information, manipulation, deceit, and treachery were the only things he knew nowadays. His existence, not considering what he had a life, was only for the sake of killing every last soldier in the city.

Distracted by his thoughts and the line of footprints, Cyrus found himself at the end of the trail in little time. His timing could be considered pretty convenient, managing to catch the tiny voices from within the apartment complex he was now faced with, located somewhere in the Highrise District from what he could see. So, they were going to try and free captured Metas? He had scouted the restricted zones before, but which zone this feminine voice mentioned was ambiguous. If he could find the whereabouts of the prisoners, it would open up a plethora of new opportunities.

Not satisfied with the current audio levels, Cyrus identified a position that would be suitable for remaining hidden. Eyeing the pathway to a higher surface where he could still hear the commotion from inside the apartment, he removed a pair of gloves from the depths of his jacket that were quickly placed around his chilling hands. Deciding that creating a construct to rise to the area would cause too much commotion, he settled on scaling the property by hand.

Gripping parts of the exterior while remaining as silent as possible, he climbed the building, keeping an eye out for any passersby. Even if he did make it to his perch, it would have been a wasted effort if he was caught. Thankfully, a witness had not come through to make this trip meaningless, now resting on his nest of sorts. Now it was time to see what he could extract from these rebels.

Ezekiel Strauss - Apartment Building

Zeek lowered his head thinking on the current scenario, Well I Wanted the group that can get me to rescuing June, seems like I ran into the best place to start. He looked in the direction of the gentech building, if she was there, He was going to get her out. I'll get you out June, one way or another... He turned his attention towards red head, "You piqued my interest. I'm going to level with you here, My sister is in there...I'm going to get her back...one way or another." He slid both hands into his pockets and shrugged leaning back against a wall. "I'm more than willing to work with you. I have a 3 bedroom apartment in the high-rise district. When you take into account the living room, more than enough sleeping space for people to lay low. Just tell me if you ever are planning something, I'll help anyway I can."

Then he heard bickering from another part of the room, he looked over to see the guy who helped rescue them, also whose whole motif screamed I PLAY CARDS NOTICE ME! and the extremely tall and individual. He noticed the conversation take a turn south and Eris have to step in and remind him that now was not the time to make enemies. He pushed himself from the wall. "Gee...and here I was hoping that everyone was going to get along so well...I mean threatening the guy's dad...low blow..." He shook his head at the scenario. "Probably would be best to listen to your friend. Besides people tend to get angry when you threaten family...it also might not be a good idea fire and all." He then gave a raised eyebrow "Besides I'm not to fond of people threatening other's families, seeing how mine is either dead or captured. Strikes a bit of a chord with me, and the note it plays is ugly." He returned to leaning against the wall. "So what'da say, how about we all chill out, and open up a tin of cheap soup and a bag stale bread! If we get to it quickly, we have a chance of it not tasting like hard tack."

Ace had sighed before nodding, Eris was right and perhaps he did go about this a bit too aggressively. "Fine but I still don't trust that deal at all. If you want to make a counter offer without the information exchanges feel free but I refuse to even going to consider the current offer." Then Ace heard the kid open his mouth which was close to pissing him off. With a quick subtle arm movement the Ace of Spades shot to his wrist as he tossed it into a nearby wall and prevent the card from injuring anyone in the room. "We're on the same side, so keep your trap shut unless you have valuable input." The only thing that Ace didn't agree about the rebels was the nonviolence, there was a way they could make smart strikes that would prevent the leveling the whole city from being leveled, after all there were normal civilians in the city and the military had an 'injure no civilians' policy.

Mai nodded in reply from the girl. Then the girl headed some where else. There were so many people she wasn't sure what to do. She was starting to feel really closed in which made her feel trap which she can't stand. She tired to back away from the crowd and looked around. She had no idea there this many people were Metas. It was strange though they were all so different. Some of these people looked like they wouldn't get a long at all. She then saw something pass her and hit the wall beside her. "Ah!" She covered her mouth and looked next to her. She blinked "A card?........the heck?" She looked around. "Who threw it?" she said to herself. She then turn back to the card and took it out of the wall and looked at it.

"Just the two of you?" Chales said, looking at one of the Meta that was with the group and the kid that got him into this mess in the first place. "Very well. I know of a couple places around here that would make good hiding places, but there is one area that the military ignores the most. It's an old storage building that I used to hang out near a lot before the explosion. If we can somehow secure that place it should be big enough for about 20 people to live in. It's entrances and windows are boarded up, also, so we wouldn't have to worry about any unwanted persons coming in. I know of a secret entrance we can use to get in, though."

Sark drove up to the research lab's entrance, backing up into the garage after the one guarding the entrance let him in. Opening the trunk of his car, he, along with other Meta and Quirex scientists working as aides and assistants in the lab, brought the device to one of the rooms inside. "Alright, buddy, how do you work?" He said as he walked around the machine, feeling its exterior. Sark eventually came up upon the GenTech logo. "So, it was these guys, huh?" Kuro stood up. A less crowded place that still had the same protection would do some good for him. He sat down, inching back down to the floor, waiting for Charles to lead the way. Golden eye flew around the room, observing. It then zipped back to Kuro, bouncing in the air. "These people are complete strangers! Why are you even here" it asked. Kuro put a hand to his face. As if that weren't obvious enough! He was caught up in something, led here, and has no knowledge whatsoever of what was going on. Even if something were, he wasn't listening.

"Well, this private conversation quickly got public, but I suppose that should have been expected. So we understand each other? Perfect. I would love to stay and chat, but we'd all be swarmed by liberation forces. By 'liberation', I mean murder. I'm going to go calm the bloodhounds, keep them off all of our trails." Zeph looked at Ace, muttered "Dick," and took a brisk pace for the door, motioning to Ione on the way out. As they made their way back to the Brownstones, opting to take the overland route, Zeph put the battery back in his sat-phone, almost dropping it when it immediately started buzzing. "You take it, he always liked you." Zeph said, tossing the phone to Ione.

Ione caught it, sticking her tongue out at him as she received the call "Hello, sir? Zeph is right here, yes." She said, handing the phone to him despite his frantic 'no' gesturing.

The following conversation could be described by most as mundane, boring, calm, or even pleasant, but the rage hidden beneath the pleasantries coming from the senior Van Middlesworth was not lost on the junior. Fear enveloped every fiber of Zephaniah's being. This was not the voice of a man having a conversation when he should be worried; this was the voice of a man who knew he would enact punishment later, but verbal abuse would not expel enough rage to quench the bloodthirst. By the time the phone call ended, Zeph had the pallor and sheen of porcelain, and was quaking enough to be audible. The remaining walk home was in silence, and Zeph parted into his own house with a single weak "Bye." As if it were his final hour with too much left to do.

Ione, upon her own arrival was forced to vehemently deny association with the burned building until even her mother was satisfied with the alibi. Once the interrogation was over, Ione took the chance to get a question answered: "Hey, mom? Can you get some information for me? I have some people I'd like you to check out..."

Bentley Royale, His Apartment

Bentley stood, unsure what was going on, but getting increasingly more concerned. Despite the fact that no one would really suspect this area as a safehouse, this many people in the same apartment, some of them looking rather disheveled, was bound to draw attention. He slipped over to Eris and whispered in her ear, "Listen, I know we're kind of far from HQ, but you can't stay here. I can hear sirens off in the distance, and I'm sure you can too. The entire military will be out looking for you guys, and if they stumble upon this apartment, we're all dead."
