Elizabeth woke up and saw her brother looking at his gun like nothing else mattered, he smiled at it knowing it was the only thing he had for safety and his only chance of survival depended on it. He turned around to see Elizabeth looking at him with an worried face.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Why are you looking at your gun like that? I told you that you weren't supposed to take it out if there's no danger"

"Because guns are the only things keeping us safe so I want to keep it close"

"The others are keeping us safe too and we are doing the same for them, isn't that why we joined a group in first place?"

"I guess... Anyways, I'm getting out of here"

"I'll come with you, we have a lot of work today"

They both got out to see a walker near the camp walking around like it owned the place, Justin aimed at it until Elizabeth touched his hand to stop him from shooting.

"It's a waste of bullets, let me do it"

Elizabeth approached the walker and killed it with her machete before it had a chance to attack her.

"What a horrible way to start a day"

Lia sat beside the fire they had going, making the food for the day. It was soup, a broth with a few vegetables as simple as cabbage and carrots. With some spices that Hudson found to put in.

She smiled a little while stirring the soup. The vegetables had been growing outside for month and a few days. She was proud of them. "Foods ready" She said to anyone who listened.

Hudson sat beside the outskirts of her camp, playing with her hatchet and humming a quiet tune.

She saw Marcus nearby and smirked slightly flashed a wink then looked back down to her hatchet.

"Mmmm, gotta love vegetable broth boiled to the point of being mush. Delicious."Zack commented sarcastically sitting up from his sleeping bag near the camp fire. He groaned as his neck felt stiff as he stretched it out, despite his comment he was starving and the broth looked like a nice rumb steak to him right now. He got out of the bed, shifted closer to Lia with a old bowl and spoon."Oh well, baggers cant be choosers."

Marcus sat up on a tree short distance away from camp, his rifle laid out across his lap. He'd been there all night, making sure walkers didn't get anywhere near camp. It was physically exhausting, and he needed sleep. He figured no one truly appreciated just how rough a job it was, as none of them had had to do it since he joined the group.

He climbed down the tree haphazardly, slipping a few times before eventually falling a little less than ten feet to the ground. He landed on his back, fortunately in a pile of brush which padded his fall. He groaned loudly and gathered himself up, then went to his tent and lazily crawled inside before promptly falling asleep.

Lia glared at Zack and frowned "if someone got off their a*s and went hunting then maybe I could cook some squirrel or rabbit." She rolled her eyes refurring to to him. She filled herself a bowl and sat back quietly eating, "I miss junkfood" she giggled and ate some of the soup. It wasn't meeting her hungry needs, but for the moment it'll have to do.

When Hudson heard Lia talking about the soup her stomach growled and she walked over to the fire, got herself a bowl full and sat on a rock not too far away, sipping her soup quietly. She smirked slightly listening to Lia and Zack argue about mushy food. She didn't mind the soup, the vegtables weren't too mushy either. She took one of the carrots, and put it in her mouth. She stuck her tongue out at Zack and continued eating. Only glancing to see Marcus climb into his tent.

"Hey, I am medical man. I save life not end it, Hypocratic oath and all, atleast as long as it suits me."He replied as he began eating some of his own soup, it was warm at least something that was difficult to find as the days past. Winter was not far of and thing get really cold in the area were they were, he figured it was something to mention when more people gathered to eat." Junkfood...Meh, now a good steak and fries with garlic butter sauce...Oh the mental image."

Marcus' sleep was wracked by nightmares. There was no peace for him, either awake or asleep. It was, quite frankly, a miracle that he survived on as little sleep as he did. It was already beginning to take a severe toll on him, but he refused to let the others see the tiredness in his eyes or the slowness in his stride.

"Michelle? Maria?" He cried out, wandering the empty, lifeless streets of Chicago. They had to be here somewhere, he knew it. The walkers were everywhere, but seemed not to notice him. It was as if he was a mere ghost to them, nothing more. They ambled pointlessly into alleys and buildings, seeking out the flesh of the living.

It was no where to be found. They were stuck in an endless dance, of course. They had already eaten what there was to eat, filled up their rotting stomachs many a week ago. He watched as a stomach burst in front of him, leaking entrails and gore onto the street. The walker continued to stumble along, dragging it's intestines along the ground behind it. Marcus vomited on the pavement, overwhelmed with sudden nausea.

Then he heard a cry. A young girl, by the sound of it. Another shriek followed it, but a slightly different voice. He bolted in search of the noise. "Michelle!? Maria?!" He called out again. He found them in a small room, alone. A walker corpse lay on the floor, a smoking hole in it's forehead. The girls stood shakily, one of them grasping a pistol. Both of them were bleeding at the wrists, an obvious bite wound.

"Hello, Marcus." Maria whispered, offering him the gun. "Kill us, Marcus. Save us from becoming one of them." She said plainly, not a single hint of emotion in her voice. His hands disobeyed him. Even his entire force of will was not enough to stop them as he raised the gun towards his sisters. He squeezed the trigger, waiting for the deafening bang.

There was no gunshot. Only a scream as he woke up, sweating and shivering despite being wrapped warmly under a few blankets.

Lia smiled "oh nooo don't make me want that" her stomach growled and she pulled her knees to her chest closer. Her smile faded a little as she ate more. The soup wasn't gonna be enough to make them full... "its getting close to winter... how will we survive..." asked, a hint of sadness in her tone, "food is low, all we have are vegtables and all the animals are going away for the cold season..." she stated worriedly. Her bowl was empty and she set it down, wrapping her arms around her knees.

"We'll just have to work harder... We've been slacking off lately." Hudson said to Lia and rolled her eyes. She's been with the survivors for a few months now, and they were all dumber than a rock... "im, going to go look for supplies, so we don't starve to death." Hudson stated coldly and walked to her tent to grab her gun and bag. When she got out she asked them, "anyone wanna join?"

"I'll go, I was planning on going anyways and I know really good places with a lot of stuff. The only bad thing is that it could have a lot of walkers or other people inside"

Elizabeth said while she gave Justin a bowl and then looked around.

"We're going to have to move before winter starts, this place is too cold and really far from any places were we can find supplies. We could search for possible places while we're out"

Zane sighed as he woke up from his usual restless sleep. Nightmares, again. Zane stood up and feeled around for his goofy glasses. There was crack in one lens, but it still had to work. He slowly walked out of his tent, adjusting his glasses once more. Zane grunted a 'Morning' to the group and sat down on the grass holding his soup. He looked up as Hudson mentioned going for supplies and stood up instantly. "No. I'll go. You shouldn't come..." Zane paused and looked over at the siblings, "Especially if you've got others..." Zane started walking back to his tent but stopped and looked back at Hudson. "I might need 1 back-up if this thing goes worse..." Zane shook his head and walked in his tent not letting anyone object.

"Im going for sure!" Hudson said to Zayn and rolled her eyes. She did this everyday so it wasn't a problem at all. She stood by the past that led to the highway that let to the small town just down the road. She twirled her hatchet impatiently, and that permanent frown puckered on her lips. Zayn was taking forever...probably fixing his hair, so Hudson got a head start.

" I'm still going, we need a lot of help if we want to survive"

Elizabeth got up and got her crossbow while her brother followed her to say goodbye

"Be safe Lizzy, good luck"

"Thanks, you should help the others. Ask them if they need anything"

Elizabeth started walking towards the Road that led to the town and saw Hudson and walked towards her.

"I know some places we could go to but there are some walkers in the town. More than ten if I'm correct"

"Hey, wait up."Zack begrudgingly got up and rushed towards the scavenger group. As he approached them he took out a piece of paper from his pocket."I will doubt you find but since your out, i need as much of basic medical supplies as you can find. And i mean any bandages disinfected, any sort of alcohol because if something happens to you out there i can promise i can do much here."

Elizabeth looked at the piece of paper and quickly replied. "There's a pharmacy a few miles away, if we're lucky we could find all that stuff easily but I can't promise anything"

Elizabeth looked at the town and a small grin appeared in her face, she wanted to check out the houses to see if there was a place where they could go during the winter

Zayn had been looking in his mirror in his tent. He was very cautious about the big scar on his face and patched it up regularly so no one knows about it. He packed up his back pack, which included: Wood Axe and his pistol. He took out the axe, held it firmly in his hand and walked out of his tent. He saw the group in the distance, a bit annoyed that there was more than just him and Hudson. He sighed and forced a smile at the boy. Zayn walked off to the group and said:

"If we are going to go to the town, I think we must split up. I can go on my own, but you guys must pair up yourself." Zayn nodded his head at the word, 'Pharmacy'. It was a good idea to start. "I'll take the supermarket then." He nodded his head and asked, "Everyone all right with that?"

Hudson glanced at him, "the supermarket would be full, people probably tried to get everything they could after the world ended, so your best bet is just look for small houses and other places. I'll go with you." She said plainly to him as she kept walking

Zayn sighed and followed her. "I am fully aware of that..." He mumbled, leaving the rest of the group back at the road. Secretly, Zayn just wanted all this pain and sorrow of this world to go away. "But if you insist...That would be nice..." Zayn smiled at her, pushing up his cracked glasses up a little. "If you want to, We can check out some houses before. I really think the supermarket would be a big bonus to the group."

"We could sneak through the roof and get them all in the stairwell." She smirked at Zayn, "then we could go find a manageable house where Walkers wouldn't kill us in our sleep." She teased and continued walking, "my old house was practically a manson, so we could stay there..." the town they were headed to was her old town, so her house would be there.

Lia watched as Zack handed Elizabeth a paper and just shrugged, "so if im correct you were a doctor before this? Or someone in the medical field of some sorts?" She asked.

Zayn shrugged. "I also used to stay here..." He paused, looking over at her. "But...Let's just not talk about that..." Zayn shook his head, a little annoyed that he had brought his past life up. "To be honest, I don't think anywhere in this world will ever be safe. I mean, this, 'virus' is probably spread all over the world." Zayn pointed out a hand. "See that big building with the domes? That's the shopping mall." He smirked a little, excited that he might do something good for once. "C'mon!" He started jogging a little. "Let's get this over with before dark!"

Hudson rolled her eyes and jogged with him. There were no walkers around the mall. But there had to be some in the mall. She jogged behind Zayn quietly. The kid had to be nuts, but at least his looks made up for it.

They made it up the the doors and Hudson tried to open it, but the door was locked. She growled and looked at Zayn "what now?"
