Personality: Pablo is fanatically devout. He's a secretive, often isolated leader, but has been known to give speeches capable of riling up a crowd into a frenzy. He's direct and unforgiving, and is often considered stubborn. He's proud of what he does, and believes in the end, even if he doesn't earn salvation, he will have done good beyond any other man.

Background/History: Pablo de Madrid was born to a noble family in Castille. Being the third son of the family, he was sent off to a monastery to study and join the priesthood. Years of study at the Monastery of Carboeiro left him well-versed in biblical study, and well-read in some classics.

By the age of 20, he felt as if he wasn't doing enough in the monastery. With the permission of the High Abbot, he was allowed to travel Spain and preach in villages he passed through. He soon became well known for his oratory, and had a devout band of followers. For a time, he continued to travel Spain with his brethren, up until the Plague arrived.

He watched as all of his companions were consumed by the disease. Being the sole survivor, he affirmed his faith and believed himself to be protected by the Divine himself, something he would soon come to regret.

Upon explaining it to the High Abbot when he returned to the Monastery, he was declared too prideful and banished from the monastery. He unofficially maintains his title to this day, despite being in no way affiliated with the Catholic Church anymore. Somewhat ashamed, he returned to his family home, where he learned of the deaths of his entire family during an outbreak of the Plague. He inherited everything, but renounced the title of nobility and went into seclusion.

Upon writing Venificam Venator, he turned his household into a training ground, a monastery of his own design, for those who would serve his new goal. He has just finished preparations, three years after writing the essay, and expects his chosen initiates to arrive soon.
