Story of a Lifetime Buildingaspaceship X xx0mittens0xx

Dorian wakes up suddenly, covered in dirt and blood on his living room floor. He sits upright and groans at the feeling all over his bones, and sleeping on the floor wouldn't have helped that at all. He looks down at his bloody hands and groans as he stands, walking upstairs quickly, and throwing his black outfit from yesterday in a small pile to wash later. He walks into his bathroom, and turns the shower before stepping under the hot water and washing the dried blood from his skin and hair. He knew that, when he changed back into a human, there wouldnt be blood on him, but he had changed back inside the home, in a pool of blood, causing it to get all over his skin. He remembered that he had left bare footprints from the house, the same way he had done every time he changed after killing someone, leaving the short trail. When he finishes in the shower he dresses in a baggy shirt and a pair of boxers, and he walks over to his bed before collapsing on it and wrapping himself in his covers.

Darcy gets done with her shower making her way over to the coffee machine to get herself a cup of coffee. She sighs as the radio starts talking about last night events, about how awful it was and tragic. After finishing her coffee and breakfast she grabs her phone to dial Dorian's number to see if he had heard about the murder, no doubt he had but she was curious of his opinion about it.

Dorian groans, just as he got comfortable he heard his phone ringing on the bedside table next to him. He reaches for it and picks it up, answering it and putting it to his ear while he was still wrapped tightly in the warm covers, his eyes half closed. "Darcy, I swear to God someone best be dead because I am so tired." He says jokingly, though his voice still sounded sleepy. Dorian was always tired after a change, all the bone breaking and flesh changing would kind of have that effect on anybody, wouldn't it?

"I didn't mean to wake you up but yes, three are dead, an entire family" She states plopping down in her office chair spinning it around to look out at the town from her third floor. "Kind of creepy that he just snuck in and left without anyone the wiser..... the fact he killed a child this time, that's what gets me. But anyways I'll let you get back to sleep but do you want to meet up for dinner later? To discuss the murder" She spins around in her chair boredly.

"Three people?!" Dorian exclaims, not moving from his cocoon of warmth, but trying to sound convincing, "and he killed a child? He has to be sick or something!" He looks down at his nails of the hand that isn't holding the phone before he yawns again. Wow, he was really tired, wasn't he? He nods his head though, "Dinner sounds good, time and place? I'm free all day except now till at least 5pm. I have a long days sleep planned ahead of me." Since when was his sleeping pattern so fucked up? Well, I'd guess when he got fucked up, I suppose. Dorian bites his lip and wonders whether or not the police had noted the animal tracks to inside the house, but the human tracks coming out of it. Dorian wraps himself further in his cocoon, smiling happily, he was so lovely and warm he could almost fall asleep already... He shuts his eyes halfway but sits upright a moment later and rubs his eyes, do not fall asleep on the phone, Dorian, won't score you many points, really.

"How about dinner at Zia's at 7pm? Alright see you there, have a good sleep and sorry again for waking you" She states before hanging up to let him get some rest. She turns around in her chair and rolls up to her desk getting started on a rough draft on her article as well as running some errands and what not. Soon 6pm rolls around and she gets showered and ready to meet for dinner. She changes into a simple black dress with red heels and makes her way to the restaurant, arriving about 10 minutes early while she waits outside for Dorian to arrive. She was a little excited to discuss this particular murder since it was so different from the others but made it even harder to figure out who the killer was, especially since the murders were at random with no personal contact to the killer.

Dorian had made sure this time to be awake by 6pm, and so he had showered and dressed in a black button up shirt and a sweater over the top, and a pair of loose grey jeans. He had wanted something comfortable, his bones still ached and he was sore all over. When he finished getting dressed he pulled on his shoes and grabbed his keys and his phone, before walking out of his house and locking the door behind him. He walked to Zias, arriving on time as he had hoped, and he smiled at Darcy as he walked over. He let the smile fade as he got to her. "I suppose I really should not be smiling, seen as three people are dead, right? But you look nice, so I have to smile. Conflicting times." He laughs a little and looks over Darcys outfit and then back up at her face. She was most definitely not a bad looking girl, that's for sure.

Darcy couldn't help but smile at that. "I suppose you can smile about that. I think I can let you get away with that. Come on let's go get a table" She says as she leads him inside, requesting a booth since it was easier to discuss something like this and look over her notes at the same time. She slides into her side requesting a chardonnay and a water when asked for a drink before looking back at Dorian. "But you look nice yourself, I suppose you got a decent sleep then" She picks up the menu to look over. "Italian food has to be my favorite, I don't know anyone who doesn't like it" She laughs.

"If I don't get my customary fourteen hours of sleep I get very grouchy," he jokes and he orders himself just a water, he was not feeling in the mood for any alcohol today. He looks over the menu quietly, before speaking, "Italian food is... Probably my second favourite. Pizza is like my addiction, I swear in college there was a sea of pizza boxes... I don't know why I told you that. I'm not gross, I promise." He laughs a little bit, he shouldn't get too talkative with her, he didn't want her to like, suspect him or anything. But then... If he didn't talk or anything, he would be even more suspicious right? He supposed he'd just do whatever came natural at hiding a secret like that. "But seriously I like meaty food the most. Raw steak, you know, that kind of thing." He shrugs his shoulders as he looks over the food he could choose from. 'Maybe that's why you liked to eat human flesh.' He says in his mind, 'shut up brain, I don't know what you're talking about.' He laughs to himself a little. 'You probably look crazy, you know.' He tries to block his thoughts.

Darcy laughs at his pizza box story. "That's alright I'm a sucker for a good slice of pizza myself" She sets the menu down deciding on fettuccine alfredo. She wrinkles her nose at the thought of raw steak. "I can't do raw, medium is as close I'll get to that. I don't like my beef still mooing, so to speak" She chuckles. "Though I can't say I get a chance to eat meat much, well not that I don't have the chance it's just not really on the top of my list in terms of food I like. I like pasta and food that I probably shouldn't be eating to begin with" She looks at the waitress as she brings her drink, ordering what he wanted for her meal before looking at Dorian to order.

Dorian quickly orders just a plain pizza, he probably would eat it all and want more later but he would cross that bridge when he came to it. He had a large appetite the day after a change. He smiles at her talking before his smile fades and he begins to get down to business. "Okay, right. We have three more dead people, rest in piece and all that bull shit right? But whatever, was there anything different about this one other than you know... The whole. Three people in their homes thing. And child. He's obviously stepping up his game if he's going to kill a child, probably telling people he's serious or something?" He shrugs his shoulders and takes a sip of his water.

"Well I think the fact he's killing in general people are taking him seriously. My thing is if this guy is trying to give a message or wants something in order to stop he's sure as hell not making his demands clear" She says pulling out her notebook, not having any pictures or anything else from this murder just yet. "I just don't understand why he's being less careful, in a residential neighborhood? Anyone could have spotted him. He's getting too brazen... but that's my opinion. I have to say next time I want to see if I can't catch him in the act if he's going to be that obvious about it."

"Maybe he doesn't want something in order to stop? Like maybe he just likes to kill? And honestly, I'm sure that he's probably only going into a residential neighbourhood to scare people, and if I'm honest it doesn't seem that risky. I mean have you seen the police round here? Not exactly doing a great job of catching this guy." He shrugs his shoulders, looking at her notebook, "but then again, he could also be doing this to try and scare us. I haven't seen anything about the murders, but I bet they're bloody right? It's probably warning people to be afraid of him. It's working, by the looks of things."

Darcy discusses the newest murder and gets a decent meal, offering to pay at the end. She soon parted ways telling him she'd call if she needed a second opinion for her article she'd be writing. She keeps in touch with him over the week's time, but she wasn't able to get much other than pictures of the house since it was much harder to get inside a house to look at evidence as opposed to an open field in plain sight. The next Tuesday she ended up on her phone that night arguing with her boss about the quality of her story trying to explain all she had was just the house, they wouldn't release pictures of the family and so she had nothing for a story. She ends up hanging up after her conversation, sighing frustratedly as she made her way to get a glass a wine. Seeing she was all out of that she curses under her breath and decides to take a walk to clear her head not even thinking it had been a week since the last murder. She noticed it was pretty empty, no one was out, no kids playing in the street, but she figured it was late and a school night.

All week Dorian had planned and planned, but he didn't want to risk going inside another persons house, and so, he would probably just attack another person on the street tonight, and then be more ambitious. He'd take anyone he could get right now, he was just itching to kill. He had changed in his back garden, and was now a large black wolf hiding in the bushes watching as someone approached, walking. What were they doing out here? Did they not know about the whole Tuesday thing? Dorian let a low growl escape his mouth and he bared his teeth as he prepared to pounce at... Was that Darcy? He stopped preparing to pounce and looked at her for a moment. She was nice to him, she was almost like a friend, sort of, but... The wolf in him, the killer in him, would not let him let her get away. He needed to kill today, now. And so, he bounded out in front of her, his teeth bared, growling lowly.

"Holy shit" She places a hand to her chest the wolf scaring the hell out of her. She takes a few slow steps backwards putting her hands up defensively. "Nice doggy.... I'm not going to bother you so I'd appreciate it if you weren't going to bother me" She says softly trying to keep her voice steady. She closes her eyes for a moment thinking how stupid she was for leaving on her own this late, she should have just drove. She watches the wolf cautiously wanting to do nothing more than run but knew that only instigated a chase. She looks around for anyone else who might be the area but she was alone, the only houses around had their lights off.

Dorian took a step towards her, narrowing his eyes as he ran his tongue over his sharp teeth, he took another step, this time arching his back and his hair standing on end. He was about to lunge at her, even though he knew he'd regret this whole thing in the morning, when he realised who he had killed. He would have killed the only person that he would class as a friend. Dorian pounces at her, knocking her to the floor and, this time, he was playing with his food as he brought his mouth extremely close to her, his teeth sharp, he opened his mouth as though he was going to bite her, before he stepped away from her body, and hid himself in the bushes again, 'go on, run,' he thought to himself. He liked it when they ran, that was when he would attack, when he would bite.

Darcy let out a scream when she was pinned to the ground before quickly scrambling to her feet, screw standing her ground she was going to get the hell out of there. She quickly takes off towards her apartment building, it couldn't be that far away could it? She could see it in the distance but it felt like miles away, the adrenaline coursing through her body sending her into overdrive as she tries to run as fast as she could.

Dorian could hear his human self laughing in his head as he pursued Darcy, running as fast as he could, following her, but every time he neared her, he would fall back, let her think she had a chance. When he finally had decided that chasing was boring, he bared his teeth and pounced on her, biting his teeth down on her leg, deeply, dragging her backwards and through some thick trees into a clearing where he would not be seen, he dragged her harshly, feeling the blood from her leg fill and stain his mouth.

Darcy tries to claw at the ground to anchor herself away from the wolf but was unsuccessful in being able to hold onto anything. She tries to kick him off with her other leg, slamming her foot into his nose a couple times before reaching over and grabbing a stick. She realized she needed to stop panicking and be resourceful. She sits up and jabs the stick down next to her leg, stabbing him in the back of the throat and pulling her leg free when he gagged. She quickly scramble to her feet trying to ignore the pain in her leg. She uses the stick to jab him quickly in both eyes, not blinding him permanently but causing some more than unwelcomed pain as she took off to the best of her ability. She finally reaches her apartment building and slams the door behind her not able to make it upstairs to her apartment. She pulls out her phone to dial an ambulance as she slide down against a wall not able to stand as the adrenaline started to waiver and pain was starting to kick in. She was able to stay awake just long enough to see the paramedic rush in before losing consciousness from shock and blood loss.

Dorian woke up the next day, cold and naked on his kitchen floor, he ached all over, and this time he had bruises all over his body, and his eyes... God they hurt. Darcy had put up such a fight yesterday, it was no wonder she had gotten away. None of his other victims had been that good at defending themselves. Dorian sits upright and moves his hair away from his eyes as he takes a sharp breath, feeling the pain in his head. He quickly stands up, clumsily walking from his kitchen to his bedroom, before pulling on baggy clothes and grabbing a large blanket and taking it all back downstairs. He curls into a ball on the couch and turns on the TV, watching the news as someone reported Darcy's attack. They didn't give any details, however. Something inside Dorian felt empty, he was missing something, and he knew what it was. He had wanted to kill last night, and all he managed was a fighter, and he didn't even kill her.

Darcy was released from the hospital after her leg was stitched up and bandaged and she was deemed safe to be on her own. She makes her way back to her apartment after getting a ride from her boss who wanted a story on the attack as soon as she was up to it. She just rolls her eyes and nods as she gets out of his car to take the elevator to her apartment, plopping down on the couch once she was inside, crutches were a pain in the ass to walk on but she couldn't comfortably put weight on her leg. She grabs her cellphone and stares at it for a moment before choosing Dorian from her contacts to give him a call, hoping she wasn't calling too early again.

He had dozed off a little, the TV still on loud in the background, but when he heard the familiar ring tone that he had set for Darcy, Dorian picks up his phone, turning down the TV volume. "Darcy? Are you alright? I saw that you'd been attacked and... Are you okay? What happened?" He asks her all these questions, still wrapped in his blanket warmly, faking concern. He stands up with the blanket over his head and shoulders and one hand holding his phone up to his ear; he was truly a comical sight every morning after a change. He walks over to his fridge and opens it, grabbing a chocolate bar from his fridge and closing it before he walked back to his sofa.

"I'm alright, lucky to still have my leg, stupid rabid dog or something attacked me. I don't know why it worked but I just remembered what I'd seen on shark week on how to get away from a shark attack and apparently it works in more than one situation" She looks over at her cat who was puffed up and hissing at her and furrows her brows in confusion. "Shadow chill out it's just me" She murmurs before returning the phone conversation. "I was being an idiot and walking alone. My boss pissed me off so I figured a walk would cool me down along with a bottle of wine and yeah I never got very far on the walk part before this black thing came out of nowhere"

"Was it a wolf or a dog? Do you remember?" He asks her, running his hands over his chin as he spoke. "And if you want me to... I uh... I could come over to yours? If you want company, I mean. Like, if you don't want to be alone or if you need someone to talk to, I'm definitely here alright." Dorian says comfortingly as he moves the blanket off his forehead. "I can even bring you a bottle of wine." He jokes, smiling slightly. He takes the blanket off him completely, grimacing at the pain in his bones. Even if he was in pain, he would still go over to Darcys if she needed him, because otherwise he'd look suspicious, right?
