Fantasy The Dark Era

iAmGypsyDanger

The Faithful

A land where many races live and die. There are alliances and wars, magic and tradition. A world where heaven and hell are very much real, as you are to me. Join now to experience your life on this world of good and evil.

In the Gregnest year of 431, there was a major famine. There was death, savage fights in kingdom squares. There were many killings and sacrifices to heaven's Angels.

And this is where you come in my young friend. You need to go on the search for food and resources. The king and queen of Ingo would be happy to help. But be on the lookout, Demons could be lurking in the shadows to fill their stomachs with you. Orcs could be waiting, to sacrifice you to their god.

Fallen Angels might beg for your help, the human's greed might ruin your purpose, and the Elves may use their magic against you. Beware of the dangers ahead, and be warned that the fertile land may just swallow up your crops for the unknown dwellers beneath...

There are a few major races that exist in Gregnest.

This race is native to the region Monji. They are somewhat barbaric, and they do not trust easily.

The human is the dominant race. They originate from almost anywhere with fertile land and vital resources.

(yes these pictures are pretty dumb)

Next to humans, Elves stand as the second dominant race in Gregnest. They are a peaceful race until they are at war. They are one of the races that magic comes to naturally

Redeemers are an extinct form of an angel/demon mix. But why can't Demons and Angels just bring the race back to life? because, Demons and Angels can no longer have offspring together due to an order set between the two races. Magic has prevented it, and there is no way out of it. Their history is forgotten, and their purpose was also forgotten. But their history and genealogy have yet to be revealed. Some believe there are still some out there. Redeemers would usually have more of one trait, for example, it would look more like a Demon if the father was a Demon, and vise versa. But for an Angel to be a parent, it would have to be a pure angel, not a fallen angel.

This is a drawing of what a philosopher believed a Redeemer would look like if the father was an Angel.

Angels and Fallen angels are not the same. But a Fallen Angel would first have to be a pure Angel. Angels become Fallen Angels when they commit a horrible crime in heaven, or fail to achieve a goal on the surface (which is quite rare). Depending on the severity of the case, an Angel's wings may be ripped off and the holes where they were would be stitched closed. then they would be cast down to the surface and will be unable to fly to heaven at all. If the Fallen Angel is allowed to keep their wings, their flight abilities will become weaker and they will not be able to fly as high as heaven anymore. In some cases, one wing may change color. But that is rare. Usually, both wings become darker.

Angels are pure and clean. They rarely fail or commit anything bad. They protect the superior races and sometimes the inferior. They can fly as high as heaven, and can fly faster than one could ever imagine.

Demons are the inhabitants of hell. They disguise themselves as other races to bring harm and cause trouble. However, some are not all bad They are not fully good though.

The Badlands are just other areas in Gregnest that have villages owned by other kingdoms, Dungeons, farmland, rebel houses and other things to explore.

Annika was in a tree, munching on an apple. She gazed around her surroundings and studied them. She was pretty sure she was in the badlands, and possibly a mile or so from the nearest village. The young elf began to swing her legs, and hummed a little tune she had picked up from people she had seen before. She took another bite, pausing her humming for a moment.

It was such a perfect day, it was a pity she didn't have anyone to share it with.

Khal is walking through one of the forests in the Badlands, checking on the wildlife and plant-life. His mind is wondering in the peacefulness around him and he stops abruptly once he hears a tune that doesn't come from nature, although a specie that is quite in tuned nonetheless. Khal follows the tune until he can see where it comes from. Sitting in a tree a little distance away, he notices another elf, although a different type then him. He just leans against the tree and listens happily to the tune as she hums.

The tingling feeling in Esme's stomach came again. It happened every few days. She wanted to ignore it, but she couldn't... It bit her in the neck every time. And she couldn't brush it off. It happened every time something with a soul died. Weather it be humans, or elves, fallen angels or Demons. Her people were responsible for the redemption of souls after the mortal body died. They'd take them into Heaven or Hell depending on the choices of the person.

It hurt her every time a soul goes astray because of her. It simply tears her apart. She laid down on the grass in a field, just off the boarder of Ingo. She was looking up at the sky at the clouds streaking across the sky in white wisps, marking the main airways. She had the pained feeling of yet another soul not being taken into it's rightful place.

She has dealt with it for too many years and is struggling to keep her emotions in. While she looked up at the sky she mumbled to herself how much Master Angel must be planning her punishment, or maybe even getting ready to send an omen her way indicating that she would be chained to the walls of hell for not helping the lost souls. She's watched it happen to her family, and her friends.

Amy stared up at the sky through the ruins of magroth. This was her home now, not heaven that was above her. No, she couldn't go back there anymore she had broken a rule. She walked over to a doorway and looked out over the vast wastelands, she was waiting for someone new to come into her trap. Maybe it will be a young man, a faint smile appeared on her face.

"That would be nice"

She sat down and picked up a piece of a broken mirror. She looked at herself in the reflection, she grew sad at the fact that her eyes went from bright blue to dark grey. She looked up hoping someone would show up soon.

Annika kept humming until she finished her apple, and when she did finish she paused, and then carefully let the core drop to the base of the tree. Still silent, the young elf scanned the area, and she spotted someone that seemed to be watching her. "Hello?" She called, watching the figure from her perch.

Esme decided to get a move on. She hadn't been given a decent meal in days, and she decided to head towards the ruins to find anything useful. She usually found things here and there, and they helped her out. They were pretty far away from where she was. Hesitating for a moment, she sat up in the grass and looked in front of her, and saw the Ingo kingdom on the horizon.

Her hunger was starting to get the best of her, and soon felt guilty for wanting food. Most others had trouble finding it these days because of strange things happening to food and crops. The Ingo inhabitants might not even have that much themselves, let alone anything for a traveler. She stood up and a slight breeze swept over her, wisping her braids ever so slightly. The thought of food made her ache worse than the thought of straying souls.

It was worth a shot. She began heading toward the kingdom, across the rolling hills of the vast grassland. Her stomach churned in nervousness, and her heart felt as if it was falling into a bottomless pit. She'd been through a lot that day, and could use a good piece of meat with some bread of some sort.

Realizing that he had been noticed, Khal steps away from the tree he had been leaning against and walks forward so he is clearly visible, although his wings are folded tightly against his back. "Hello there miss. I hope I didn't startle you. My name is Khal and I heard your tune as I was walking through the forest." He bows politely to her, slightly revealing his wings that most elven folk not of his kind detest.

Annika watched curiously. This guy seemed as nice as guys went, and she was happy to introduce herself.

"I'm Annika," She said, and then saw his wings and widened her eyes. An elf with wings? Cool! Could he fly?

Annika scooted toward the trunk of the tree, and then turned around and began climbing down with ease. At the last few feet she jumped and landed on her feet. She turned around and found herself only a few feet away from Khal.

"Nice to meet you," She said with a wide, friendly smile.

Despite noticing the widening of her eyes when she realizes he has wings, Khal is surprised by how little of a reaction Annika showed to the development. He watches as she climbs down the tree to end up directly in front of him. Returning her smile, Khal responds, "Nice to meet you as well. May I ask what that tune you were humming was?"

"I really don't know. I just picked up a tune from someone, and added my own thing to it. Did you like it?" The girl asked curiously, looking up at him. She realized he was over a foot taller than her, but he was nice, and she liked that. She hadn't really seen a nice person for a few days, or maybe it had been a few weeks? She shook away the thoughts, and focused her attention on the winged elf.

"It was a nice tune," Khal assured her, "And I did enjoy it quite a bit." He feels a little uncomfortable now since this is the longest time he has ever spoken with another elf specie without them freaking out over his wings in a negative way. Khal hopes his presence isn't coming off as threatening to her and that she can continue feeling the peacefulness of the forest. His eyes wonder back to the trees and an almost visual glow enters his body as the nature around them energizes him.

"Can you fly?" She suddenly asked, eyes wide with curiosity. She didn't seem to notice any glowing about him, but she was curious of what he was looking at, but didn't ask.

As Esme got closer to Ingo, she whispered the words to a song that she would normally sing when she brought souls to heaven when she was younger. The words were in her native tongue, they flowed together. The words would soothe the souls so they would be peaceful while being carried. It helped ease her pains.

The castle was elegant. She could see the tops of it off in the distance as she got closer to the kingdom. She whispered the small phrases over and over, and each time she did so, it felt as if the pain would lessen. But due to a loud shout, she stopped instantly, looking over her shoulder.

"Who's there!" She called back. No one answered. But a moment later, the noise came again but a bit more raspy. She fallowed the noise until she came upon a small pond that she hasn't noticed before. There was a young man sitting at the bank, shouting every now an then. Esme crouched down behind some bushes and was unsure of what to do.

Startled by Annika's abruptness due to him being distracted, Khal's wings open and lift him from the ground in case of danger. As he relaxes, he is able to lower himself back to the ground and refold his wings. "Well I guess that answers your question then," he replies with a small sheepish grin on his face due to his reaction. "Sorry about that."

She grinned while she watched, awe on her face. "I wish I could fly. That would be fun," The 12 year old said happily. The grin didn't leave her face.

The boy sitting on the shore of the pond, Esme noticed that he was letting out shouts of pain. Being the kind girl she was, she stood up and raced over to him. He fell over on his back and Esme noticed three large gashes across his chest. "Please miss..." He croaked after letting out another cry. "Please get out of here before they get you... I've seen what's been taking the crops..." He let out a shout again, and Esme propped him up, placing his head on her lap.

"Has it done this?" She asked sorrowfully, knowing there was nothing she could do.

"Yes... It has..." His breath was short. "Please miss, please help me..."

Esme couldn't do anything for him. And it pained her to know such a thing. "I'm sorry sir, but i can't."

His eyes got wide and they were glassy. Knowing his end was near, Esme touched his head softly, and began to slowly sing the song.

De oh ni si ah ka no

Ma sem nide yo sol

Frou ki nu soh way

The young man slowly drifted off, his soul exiting his chest peacefully. The soul was the perfect image of him, she took it's hand and continued.

Ma sem nide yo sol,

Ma sem nide yo sol...

She slowly stood, holding the soul's hand, letting the mortal body roll into the pond. She felt her wings begin to tear through her corset top from their heavy bind. Her hair turned a light blond color from the grayish white it once was.

She kept singing softly as she ascended with the soul of the boy.

Frou ki nu soh way,

Re nim uo sol way kim...

Esme brought the soul higher into the sky with her as she lifted him up toward the hevens.

Ma sem nide yo sol...

At the last line, she released the soul, and it went up and up until it flashed gold and white, then there was nothing. Esme then realized what she ha done, and lost control, falling fast, she tried to get her wings to work, but she had a case of what her kind called winglock.

Her wings seemingly disappeared, indicating she was becoming human again, and her hair changed from light blond to white again. She flailed her arms an eventually landed on the ground aways from the pond. Her vision grew hazy and she was no longer conscious.

"You are the first elf outside my specie to wish they could have wings. We are considered unnatural since we leave the earth and nature behind us for the sky. They seem to forget that all elves, winged or not, are creatures of nature." Khal sighs wistfully then blushes slightly as he realized that he had ranted to a stranger about his problems. "Sorry about that miss Annika, that was uncalled for on my part." He bows apologetically.

Annika listened, not seeming to be annoyed or anything at all, if anything, more of curious. "Oh... It's fine. And you don't need to look so sorry. I never knew there were even elves with wings," She explained, giving a small shrug.

"We are not talked about much and are mostly unseen since our homes are in the sky. I am unable to say anything more about that though." Khal has an apologetic face as he says the last remark. "So what are you doing out here Annika?" He is trying to politely change the subject.
