Fantasy Fairytales are real

Maia grinned up at him as the phone rang. "So, Hatter are you in love with Alice or what? What's the relationship there?" she asked, before laughing as he heard Alice's voice through the phone.

"Hatter? Is everything okay?" Alice asked, picking up the phone and holding it to her ear.

Jefferson was pale from Maia's question. "Yes," he squeaked, then cleared his throat. "Yes, everything's fine, but I seem to have forgotten the reason for the meeting..." He looked down at his shoes and the pile of things around them.

Mary done for the night with a few drinks, headed from the bar, her shorter brown hair tangled from a night of games. She passed along the many alleys and streets, passing the Mad Hatter. She was used to walking alone, and she was happy for it to stay that way. Crossing the nearly deserted street, she came up only a few blocks from her appartment.

Maia grinned and giggled as he squeaked.

Alice smiled into the phone. "It's about getting back home, Hatter," she said softly. "to Wonderland."

His eyes widened and he smiled. "Cheshire. Of course. Thanks, dearie," he said, glancing at Maia. "Any news on Robin?"

"Nothing yet, they are making us wait while he is being checked over. Since we're not family n'all. I just hope he's okay," she said as she looked across at Jersey.

"Yeah, me too." He chewed the inside of his cheek. "He'll be okay. I can sense it." He looked around, rocking on the balls of his feet.

Mary felt a small nag from inside, her brown eyes filled with empty worry and disdain. Her thin fingers gripped lightly at her silver pendant, her blouse light in the cool wind. It was cold, but she could hardly feel the breeze shift past her body. She could be considered a villain, like one in a fairy tale, whispered about behind her back. But inside her heart longed for something, someone to see her as something more than a feared figure.

Closing her watered eyes, she felt herself fall into her true form, nothing could truly love something so ugly, monstrous. Her skin pale, dark veins shifting under her skin. Shards had left her body a mangle of countless scars, showing in deep red and crimson. Her eyes a dark red, blood shot. Her tears were scarlet drops, lips dead. Her glamour was the only thing that made her bearable, and she burned with hate towards her true form. A shadow always lurking not far behind her life. So why try, why bother finding someone who will only shrivel back with terror? Letting her form shift, she continued on her way. Her tears of blood still stained her cheeks, her heels clicking down the dark street.

Alice giggled. "I always trust your feelings Hatter. You've been my closest friend for nearly 12 years! I trust you more than any other."

He grinned, his heart racing. "You have been and always been my best friend, Alice. Ever since you walked into our tea party when you were little. Gosh, has it really been that long?"

"Ironically it was the best tea party we had put on. The only one, actually," he laughed.

"Happy unbirthday, Alice," he said, grinning ear to ear. "I...I should probably see if Cheshire is here. I'll call to check in layer?"

"Sure thing Hatter, I'll call you later if I have any news," she said before saying "Bye," and hanging up.

Maia giggled. "Someone's in loveee," she teased as she heard the dial tone.

"Bye," he said after he heard the dial tone. He put the phone back in his coat and bent down to pick up his other belongings. "Am not," he said, hiding his pink cheeks with the collar of his coat.

Jersey paced along the waiting room, waiting for news on Robin's fate to be unrevealed. Sighing, he was about to sit down, when Dr.Swineheart ((he's from a story named Three Army Surgeons)) came in. He was the top surgeon of the hospital, and he ran this place. Standing up, Jersey paced towards him. ''How is he, doc?''

''Well, he is still unconcious. He has multiple glass shards all over his body and numerous hits around the chest area. He looks like he had a rush night. You should head home. He must take a week or so to recover. Until then, someone has to take his badge and keep Fabletwon safe. I can think of no one, better qualified than you'' Swineheart said as he left.

Jersey remained shocked. He. The sherrif. This is gonna be though. Even for a week.

"Are too, you're blushing," Maia teased. "Does she know?"

Alice nodded. "Would you mind if I sat with him for a while?" she asked the doctor.

"Does she know what?" he asked, standing up. "There's nothing for her to know." He chewed the inside of his cheek and stared at a nearby wall.

Maia rolled her eyes. "I'm not going to tell boss woman. And you know exactly what I'm talking about. You've got the hots for Miss Alice."

''You can visit him'' the doctor spoke. ''First door on the right corridor''

He hid a smile at the mention of her name. "Please. She's at least a decade younger than me, and I'm insane, remember? Who'd want a partner who makes hats and belongs in an insane asylum?"

"Alice was in an insane asylum remember?" Maia said smiling. "Besides, you're totally hot."

Alice nodded and followed the doctors directions. She made her way over to Robin's bedside and sat down. "Oh Robin, what have you done?"
