Kadok brushed his thumb across the bone, feeling a strange tingeling sensation as he did. He quickly slipped the bone into his traveling bag and continued on his way to whatever food he could find.
Kadok turned to the old woman, pulling himself away from her grasp.
"Where I come from is a place I would rather not speak of. However, I am very hungry." He caught the woman's dark eyes and felt them peering through him. "If you would provide me with food, I will indulge your curiosities."
Kadok looked about at the village that he had stumbled upon. He could hear the distant sounds of battle that were far too familiar to him, but from where he stood nothing could be seen but the moonlit village. He drew in a deep breath of the cool air. A drink, and a meal. He thought to himself...
