(Yes, this is a roleplay based of the TV series Skins, both the US and UK version.)


Welcome to the real life of teenagers. None of the stuff you see on TV, where everything is happiness and rainbows. No, this is reality. Teenagers don't just pout when they get a bad grade and cry because someone doesn't like them. Real teenagers are into sex and drugs, amongst many other things that are probably bad for them. They go to parties to hide deeper problems, maybe it's problems at home or maybe it's something within themselves. But this is the real world.


So, we're set in a small town in America, we all attend the same school. Maybe you're a loner or maybe you're part of the in-crowd. But we all have our own problems, we all have our own reasons we can't sleep at night. Maybe it's the drugs. Who knows?


Rules:


1. Remember to fade to black when things get too hot.


2. I don't want any characters that are fluffy and happy with no problems at all. Maybe they can act like it, but there's gotta be something.


3. Be creative.


4. You can curse, just not too much.

I can't say that Ana is a full-on emo, since she normally isn't incredibly depressed all the time everywhere. But she edges quite close to that grouping of people. In this case, reading a book by it's cover will get you pretty accurate results, as far as personality goes. Ana's ocular defect - her eyes being pigmented red instead of brown, as it would have originally been - have caused her to be somewhat...avoided. People seem to get intimidated by just that feature alone, and normally tend to stay out of her way because of it - or, even worse, feel the need to express their dislike or intimidation and simply bully her about it. This treatment over the years has molded her into a shy, nervous, anti-social woman. She feels uncomfortable in the presence of strangers, and normally avoids going out to social events and such, considering that she couldn't properly speak to a stranger to save her life. She's very, very quiet in front of strangers passing by, never engaging in conversation with somebody unless they speak to her themselves, one to melt into the shadows and stay out of the way. Unless the people who engaged in conversation with her were a patient, amiable type, they'd have a lot of trouble speaking with Ana - she couldn't bring up a straight answer without making her tone seem a bit shaky, and she has trouble coming up with answers on-the-spot. She also has the horrible tendency to blurt out her thoughts at random, which can be the most timely blessing or the most timely nightmare to happen to her, and depending on what she said, she would usually begin to apologize profusely or desperately try to cover it up. It's a rare occurrence for people to attempt to befriend her, and she will sometimes pull out tidbits of her dry, nearly sarcastic humor to show that she has some emotion other than her ridiculous abashment and silent nature. If somebody were to imprint positively on her conscious, and if they build up enough trust to satisfy her, they will come to know that Ana can actually be a teasing, humorous, and caring person to be around, her normally introversive attitude letting her personality peek through and bloom - but only in the presence of those specific people. If someone were to break this trust, she will quickly shrink back into her shell and wait for another brave soul to attempt cracking through it again. Having been either shunned or hurt for the majority of her life, added with a tragedy in her past and in her present that has severely wounded her (possibly in more ways than just emotionally), she has not only been made into a social outcast, but has also had her spirit broken into a depressed woman. This doesn't show often in public, normally when she knows that she's completely alone. Her depression can sometimes become a little too much for her to handle, and she will delve into self harm to help her regain control of herself, only on her wrists. But whenever she is in a public situation, she uses a coping strategy that sustains her well - her music. She is pretty much obsessed with it, listening to two main genres on her precious iPod and high-quality speakers. It bounces between dubstep, electronic, techno pieces and piano compositions, sometimes with a bit of violin or cello or such thrown in. Two very different song types are what she uses to vent her emotions, whether they be depressed or lonely or whatever else. Without it, she would most likely either be full-on emo or possibly even passed away by this time. It's what makes Ana herself - it's what has given her the rarely seen personality that will peek out to those she finds trustworthy enough. But as an overall summarization, Ana is an abashed, quiet gal who is rarely seen with a positive aura, and who uses her coping strategies to help deal with her depression and with her past.


Background:


Ana grew up in an abusive household. Her mother abandoned her father only a year after Ana was born, and he blames and punishes Ana for that as best he can, having delved into alcohol after the abandonment to cope and having begun the slow, progressive decent into an abuser. Not only is her mother's abandonment his grudge with Ana, but also Ana's looks - she looks exactly as her mother did, with a change of the pigment of her eyes and height differences and such, but still a sight that dredges up anger in him. The only thing that was standing between serious injury and Ana was Ana's now deceased brother, Treyton, who was the one to protect Ana and keep her safe both physically and emotionally. He had always been her main vent and source of comfort, having gone to him whenever her depression became too much and let him comfort her and give her the love she never got from her father. When she turned fifteen, Treyton signed himself up for the army, and not several months later, the Evelyns received news of his death in combat. Him having been Ana's main source of emotional comfort and stability took a huge toll on her conscious, and toppled her over the edge to begin her slow descent into depression. The abuse has worsened somewhat in the household, and she is desperate for her eighteenth year of life to arrive and grant her the ticket to freedom from her prison of torture. She feels she might not make it to eighteen, though, what with the frequent episodes of abuse and self harm that worsen day by day.


Problems/Addictions:


- Depression. It isn't a full-blown case that requires medication to cure, but it's enough to consider it a pretty serious matter, even though her episodes of emotional instability and intense depression don't happen quite too often.


- Self harm. Whenever life becomes too much for her music to handle, she will put a few more fresh cuts on her wrists to keep herself in control, and to stop herself from considering suicide. The pain and the urge to spill her own blood satisfies her suicidal thoughts and depression until the next time comes.


- Social anxiety. Ana has a horrible case of it that stops her from even looking at people - no, especially stops her from looking at people. Her years of abuse and bullies, as well as both calling her worthless and ugly, abnormal, etcetera, has caused this to develop and shape her into who she is.


- An addiction to her music. Ana can literally not go one day without listening to it. If she were to ever lose her iPod, she wouldn't physically survive a week. Or even a few days.


- Bullied and abused. Ana is frequently bullied by most of the condescending jerks of where she goes to school for her fragile and tiny appearance and the 'abnormality' of her eyes. She is also physically and emotionally abused by her father for an irrational grudge and out of drunken antics.


- Smoking temptations. She's becoming very tempted to try out smoking, since she's heard that it calms the nerves. She's been thinking about it a lot recently.

- Ana stands at a very short four feet, eleven inches (4'11) and weighs a mere eighty two (82) pounds.


- She has a very petite build, with a flat stomach and gentle, not-too-prominent curves. Her complexion is pale, only with the lightest of tans, and very flawless.


- Ana's wounds (bruises and cuts and such, not mental or emotional wounds) tend to heal easily. The only visible blemishes on her skin are - quite sadly - multiple self harm scars literring both of her wrists. She tries to keep these hidden from the public eye at all costs.


- Ana has pitch black hair, cut short into a full-on, short pixie cut, or 'boy cut', as some might call it. Her eyes have been pigmented into a very odd color, and this is generally why she's bullied and picked on so much (also because of her generally small size and bully-able stature) - they are colored a ruby color, and are normally surrounded by heavy eyeshadow and eyeliner to accentuate their hollowness.


- Ana has one crystal stud nostril piercing on her left nostril and a crystal belly button piercing. She also has her ears pierced on the earlobes, but plans to get more ear piercings soon.


Personal Style:


Ana adores dark colors. She has specifications when it comes to them, though. She tends to find monotones as nice on her - black, any shade of gray, but no white. Absolutely no white. The colors that she likes are dark reds, dark purples, dark blues, and dark greens. She has a specific style that she is usually seen in day by day, just with variating colors of fabrics. An oversized flannel shirt over a form-fitting camisole. She has a liking for comfy sweaters as well, but only as lay-around clothes. She likes skinny jeans, preferring pairs with ripped designs, and wears colors that go well together - she might not have much talent, but she damn well knows her color pairings. She has a prized pair of black, time-worn Dr. Martens combat boots that she wears everywhere. She also possesses a pair of black, sleek, over-the-ear headphones and an iPod, her most valued and close possessions. She's seen with them everywhere - and when I say it, I mean it. Her headphones are usually either over her ears or hanging around her neck.


Other:


She will sometimes write dark poetry or sing/hum, and she does both flawlessly and gorgeously. There are only specific songs with lyrics that she likes, and those are the ones she will be heard singing. She has never been heard singing, though, She makes quite sure to keep that hidden.

Name: Jade McGuinness


Age: 16


Gender: Female


Personality: Jade is a heartbreaker, and she likes to keep it that way. She loves the attention she receives from guys--it makes her feel beautiful. She flirts, but mostly keeps it coy, putting on the illusion of confidence and self-worth. She doesn't really get angry too often, but finds herself feeling hopeless at times. Sex is great, but she just wants to be loved sometimes.


Background: Jade grew up in a nuclear family--mom, dad, and her twin brother Austin. Her dad was a pretty big drinker, but nobody gave it a second thought until she was 10 and he was diagnosed with schizophrenia due to some drug usage nobody in the family was aware of. He lashed out on the whole family, and her mother divorced him when Jade and Austin were twelve. Around the same time, Jade started binging and gaining a bit of weight. She decided to start purging to become pretty again, and hasn't stopped since. Their father lied about being clean for two years, but when he killed himself there were traces of meth in his body. Jade coped with her dad's death by partying too hard, drinking too much, and toying with the guys. She likes to keep things dangerous all the time to avoid surprise like the one she got when her dad killed himself.


Problems/Addictions: She is bulimic.

Personality: Austin isn't very in touch with his emotions. Being physically attractive, a lot of girls pursue him. He takes them out, maybe nails them, and doesn't call again. He doesn't do it to be a jerk, he does it "for their own good". He'll admit that he's a very frustrating person but doesn't have the motivation to change.


Background: (See Jade's Background) Austin took the death of his father surprsingly lightly. They were never really that close and he began spending most of his time either smoking weed or drinking.


Problems/Addictions: He spliffs. A lot.

Name: Andrea Rose Miller

Personality: Andrea is outgoing and friendly, she always seems to be talking to someone. She isn't the best when it comes to school, though she's far from stupid. People tend to label her as a b*tch but that's because she won't let anyone walk all over her. She's seemingly confident, you'd never expect her to be the girl with scars covering her hips. Things aren't always what they seem to be, though. She's a party girl who loves to go out and drink, maybe a little too much. But it seems like everyone here does. She doesn't really open up to anyone at all, even close friends. This is why she seems shallow, because it appears that all her problems revolve around boys or something like that, when in reality it's just because she doesn't like to talk about her real problems.


Background: Andrea grew up with only her mother and younger brother, Terrence. Her father was never around, and maybe that's why she has a lot of the problems that she does. Things were never too traumatic for her, though her relationship with her mother is a bit strained. They just don't see eye to eye. She was bullied in elementary school and that's probably where her self harm problem started. No, she wasn't 10 years old putting a blade to her skin but she did scratch at herself when she'd get upset. She just grew up and scratches turned into scars. Now in high school, Andrea is no longer the timid girl she was but she still has all the same insecurities.


Problems/Addictions: She is a self harmer, though you'd never know it. However, her hips are covered in scars. Being that she doesn't really sleep around, in fact she's still a virgin, no one knows. In the summer, she uses a really good cover up so no one sees. She also drinks quite a lot, saying that it makes things more fun. But it's far deeper than that.

Personal Style: She wears a bit of everything, but you could call her style 'hipster', I guess.


Other: She lives in a pretty big house and often throw parties when her mom is away on business trips, so she's gained quite a bit of popularity.

Personality:


Valerie might look like a bitchy girl but that's because she pretty much is. Don't get me wrong, she can be sweet when she wants to. It's not like she's mean for no reason, she's been through hell and back. That doesn't necessarily mean she's bitter or never wants to have fun. To be honest the only things that would make her fall under the 'bitchy' category is that she's brutally honest, she doesn't hold her tongue or sugar coat anything for anyone. Other than that, Val is a great friend to have by your side. She's always looking for something to get into or somewhere to have fun.


Background:


Growing up in a smaller town Valerie didn't have many friends. The closest thing she had was her mother, who passed away when Val turned 14. Her father was an alcoholic and very abusive. It was the hardest thing for Valerie that the closest thing she's ever passed away and had to be left with someone who didn't care if she was alive or dead. Val finally ran away from her abusive father and started off a fresh start with her grandparents. As the years went by she had a boyfriend who she was truly in love with, he was something that finally filled the hole that was apart of her for so long. When it came down to getting intimate with him, she finally gave in, the next day he told the whole school and everyone judged her. They called her hurtful names, things that no one should ever be called. She had the 'slut reputation' in the school just because she had sex with a guy she thought she loved. That's why Valerie is the way she is today.

Riley doesn't feel the need to ever explain himself. No matter what situation he's in he doesn't really care and won't explain anything to anyone, he'll most likely just brush it off. He never stresses about too anything, he's super laid back, that doesn't mean he's totally irresponsible. He usually treats a person how they treat him. Riley honestly just always wants to chill or have some fun. He figures hes young so why not make the hell out of it.


Background:


Riley's never met his father. His mother is never really there, she's always either at a bar or some guy's house. His mother takes every problem she has in her life out on him. Riley hates it because most boys have such a close bond with their mother, and he doesn't. He would never treat a girl the way his mother treats him. Riley has worked at a tattoo parlor, by his house, at the front desk to take care of visitors. Recently, Riley has been cheated on by his girlfriend of 2 years, it hurt him really bad.

Personality: James is overall a pretty easy going, friendly guy. He's down to earth and nice to just about everyone. He's got a great sense of humor and he can be sarcastic at times, but it's all in good fun. He isn't the type to fight, but he will when it's absolutely necessary. He loves to party and have fun, but deep down he can get very depressed. He smokes weed to get him out of his lows and smokes cigarettes when he's stressing out.


Background: James grew up in a pretty normal home, he has both of his parents. However, he doesn't have the best relationship with either. He lives in the shadow of his older brother, Ryan. They think that Ryan is really going places in life, opposed to James who's always focusing on his music. They don't believe that it'll go anywhere and push him to do something more 'suitable' like become an accountant like his father. James always seemed to be friends with just about everyone, but never really had a super close friend. He bottles up his emotions and lets them all out in his raps. He tries his hardest to be confident in himself but when no one in his family or anyone for that matter believes in him, it's a bit hard.


Problems/Addictions: He's addicted to smoking, both weed and cigarettes. He's also addicted to his music, he plans to make it in the rap game.

Personal Style: James wears whatever the hell he likes. He's often found sporting a snapback.

Name: Dahlia Marina Rayne

Personality: Dahlia tends to be quite attitudinal. She isn't a bitch per say, but if she really doesn't like someone they would know. On the inside, Dahlia is extremely softhearted and caring. The only reason she pretends to not be those things is because they've never helped her in her life before. She is usually quite sweet to her friends and some other people. Dahlia is a huge flirt but most guys think of her as a tease because she doesn't like just throwing herself out there for them. She is wild and likes to party but, due to the heavy amounts of weed she smokes, Dahlia is usually calm and relaxed.


Background: Dahlia grew up with an abusive drunk as a father. Her mother passed away when Dahlia was only ten years old. Being closer to her mother from the start, Dahlia hated her father almost her entire life and it got worse when he started dating just a year after her mother's death. She began self harming around the age of thirteen and only stopped when her best friend committed suicide. Dahlia hides her bruises and scars quite easily since most have faded almost entirely by now. Drugs came into play when she was fifteen. She didn't do it to pretend to be something she wasn't, she simply wanted to find another way out of her thoughts.


Problems/Addictions: Dahlia is big into marijuana and a few hallucinogenics. She uses these as a coping skill but pretends she does it just for fun. Dahlia has never been a big drinker but does like to party, a lot more than most. Some people think she sleeps around but in truth she's only been with two guys before.

Personal Style: Dahlia is normally seen in skinny jeans, band tees, graphic tees, tank tops in dark colors, and mostly vans or converses when it comes down to shoes. She doesn't wear much jewelry unless you count her plugs, which most people don't. Her septum ring has recently been removed because she wanted her lip down and felt like toning it down a bit. Dahlia now had just her 0 plugs and her Monroe done. She does also have a large tattoo on her right upper arm. It doesn't stand for anything, or so she claims.


Other: Dahlia is bisexual but tends to gravitate more towards women. She has only ever dated three guys, one of which being Jared. Other than that, she's been with several girls and is quite open about it rather than trying to hide it.

Personality: Jared is an incredibly laid-back, carefree guy. He is usually sweet and typically very flirty. Jared doesn't have the attitude issues Dahlia has, but he does snap quite easily. Fighting was never a big thing in his life but if he feels it's necessary, he probably would kick someone's ass. He's protective of Dahlia because they're so close but not overwhelmingly so. Jared is definitely the true whore in this situation and doesn't ever pretend not to be. He doesn't trust people easily but by now he could care less about other people.


Background: Jared grew up in a normal home. His father and mother argued about the average as any other parents might. Jared never had any problems based around his parents other than the fact that they focused all of their attention on his older brother, Ryan. Jared has lived in the shadow of his brother since he was very little. Ryan, who is now twenty-four, is finishing up his last year in law school at Yale. Jared had always had issues with school, mostly due to drugs, and could never even think to achieve such a thing. His parents constantly praise his older brother and couldn't give a damn less about Jared. Jared no lives in a small apartment with his best friend (and ex), Dahlia, whom he has started trying to convince to get off of the hallucinogenics.


Problems/Addictions: Jared has struggled with a severe addiction to acid which landed him in a rehab for a year when he was only sixteen. He has recently stopped doing it and now has become more into drinking. Jared does tend to smoke occasionally with Dahlia but it almost has no affect compared to the things he used to do.

Personal Style: Jared wears mostly plain, darker colored tee shirts. He's never cared too much for skinny jeans and whatnot so he usually wears regular jeans with the occasional straight leg. When it comes to shoes, he can be seen wearing a small variety of things, mostly converses and vans with the occasional high tops. He likes to keep his clothing plain and simple, just like people seem to picture him.


Other: Jared has only one tattoo which is on the inner side of his left arm.

Personality:Casey is the sweetest person you will ever met except...when you find out what's behind that smile.(Will tell you in problems and addictions).He can sometimes be very quiet and other times very loud and talkative.People always bully him because of his girl like skinny and pale body not to mention his name and it does really get to him sometimes but eh tries to push the hurt off.When he is with friends that's is the only time he can really be himself and just relax if he can.


Background:Casey was born unwanted and was instantly put into foster care and never got to see his mother or father.He lived a life with random kids he soon figured out he didn't know at all.Growing up he would always be called a girl by everyone even adults because of his looks.At school it was a battle ground of the weak and well...he was the weak.He would always be bullied by being pushed,shoved,called names,physical and brutal beatings,and anything else you can think of he was the one that happened on.Casey cried so much that if he cried more it would hurt and no one was there to help him so he drowned his sorrows in hurting himself.No one really cared about it anyway and you want to know why?Because he has cut in front of his foster mom,dad,and siblings but they didn't say a thing.It got worst at school to the point where he had to always sit away from everyone in class and go far away to eat lunch.Even if he tried to tell the teachers at school it wouldn't be a benefit to him because they would only hurt him worst..That's when he started to burn himself as well and cut deeper and even try to swallow a whole bottle of pills before but he didn't have the courage to do that.Casey doesn't think he has the worst life ever and wouldn't be surprise if he did but,he damn sure doesn't have the best one.People still till this day bully him so badly that he visits the hospital over 30 times a year.The only thing keeping him from killing himself is the only thing that life brings him;his little kitty cat named Kelby.If it wasn't for the furry little animal he would have been taken his own life away.


Problems/Addictions:

• He has an addiction to self harming himself to the point where he needs medical attention.
  
• Chewing on his hair is also a strong addiction that he has
  
• He has a problem with trusting anyone and everyone
  
• He has an addiction to eating way to much gummy bears and drinking to much Pepsi
  
• Casey doesn't know how to love simply because he never felt it before and only pretty much loved 2 things.One was a boy who set him up and two was his pet.

Personal Style:He tends to almost always wear sweaters and ripped jeans with his black combat boots.Sometimes he wear hipster things as well.He also dyes his hair a lot of times.


Other Info On The History!:Casey did have a crush on this boy in 10th grade and,to Casey,the boy had one on him to.His crush was the first one who treated him differently and was nice to him in every way.It was the best day ever for Casey when the boy asked him out.He smiled and shook his head quickly with a yes and hugged the boy when five jocks came in.Casey immediately looked at the boy with confused eyes and he would never forget what he said before he got beaten up badly by all of them which was "I was never in love with you Casey and you will never be loved.You honestly thought someone like me would go with someone like you?Ha yeah right"And then everything went black for him then the next day he found out that the whole school knew his sexuality and was teasing him more about it.Casey never loved anything that deeply anymore except his pet.


Extra stuff:Casey did an experiment with his eye and it ended up painfully.(Don't ask what he did)One of his eye is now a light grey color (like the color that i'm using) and his other eye is this color
